JALEN
I didn't even mean to get involved... he just took a call and I just happened to eavesdrop...
But at least he let me go... hopefully the butlers weren't around... or they'd be aware of what I'd sworn to Minte...
I didn't realize he had such a terrible person blackmailing him...
Who would ever do that?
I picked up the pack of Andes chocolate he gave me from the table and walked to my room.
He always gives people this stuff... makes sense because of his name, but... it's a bit too much of a product placement on his name, perhaps?
Oh well... maybe it's best if I go back to writing my story... that should get my mind off of this.
I noticed that the writing stopped in that same place once more.
Ah, yes... the question on the best adult feeling. I thought I'd have a lot more time to think it through, but I have to come clean with a current answer...
I scribbled it down on the paper, my hand shaking all the while. And then, I finally completed that sentence...
The best adult emotion is love, and all love is good, even if it hurts.

"Huh? A road trip?"
Well, my mom was full of surprises.
"Yeah. Just me and the family."
"Why aren't the three of us allowed to go?" I blurted out, forgetting how loud and disrespectful I was being by just asking that out of the blue. I bowed and silently spoke my apologies, as I knew this was probably the best way to do it after some slight research on their culture.
"Well, we all thought you could stay here, as we all really want to let your butlers have more training."
I heard footsteps behind me before a hand slapped down on my shoulder. And soon, another one on my arm, making me tense.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Yen, we'll take good care of your daughter while you are away. We will not allow ourselves to cause any trouble." Kace assured.
He then switched languages to address the family, and my grandmother picked up a fan and opened it, and I could've sworn I saw him flinch, or maybe even wince.
I then heard a very stern reply from both my grandparents saying the same thing... though I didn't know what.
"Okay, mom. I'll be good, I suppose."
"Great! We'll be back in a week. We'll send lots of photos!"
Great. They all get to have fun and I'm stuck here with this awkward tension between the three of us.
"Bye..." I timidly waved them off until the car disappeared from view.
I heard Kace breathe a heavy sigh of relief.
"What's up with you, Greenie?" Annie teased, but I could tell she was definitely forcing her cheerful tone. Those two were both concerned about me... and I knew they were onto me.
"Nothing. I just... don't want either of us to receive any lashes again."
"Shh, Kace!" Annie urged, making me turn around.
