Sara had just moved to a new town in California with her mother, Sophie. It was an old town, yet still so very lovely. RedFleet would be a big change. She'd always thought living in northern Cali would be so cool, but when Sophie, her so-called mother, broke the news they were moving, Sara was devastated. But, life happens. And sometimes, change is needed. The house they were moving into was very old and weathered. It had a genuine vintage feel to it. 'Hey, Sara!' Sophie said in a very delightful tune. 'You have to go get your furniture from the moving van.' she smiled. 'would you like some help, Sara?' Sara was already started for the door, but she nodded. 'It would be pretty difficult to carry a whole bed myself, all the way up the stairs.' she giggled walking out the door toward the van, her mother following not too far behind. Sara was almost at the van when a group of girls about her age waved to her. She walked over hesitantly but she surely made it over. 'Hey! you must be new.' one of the girls said putting a hand out for her to shake. Sara shook her hand and smiled. 'Hi. yeah, i'm new. I'm Sara.' she paused. 'what's your name?' the girl responded in a cheery tone. 'I am Alice.' she said, then pointing to the smaller girl behind her. 'This is Tara.' Alice said, Tara smiling and waving. Alice then pointed to another girl who was a bit more plump and round. 'This is Gloria.' Sara waved at Gloria and started eyeing the van. 'I gotta go, girls. See you around!' she started walking toward the van, and then began helping her mom haul the bed up the tall, narrow staircase. 'Mom, why did we have to move here?' She asked, being flustered by a series of thoughts flowing through her head. 'Because, sometimes life can cause sudden change. And, this is one of those times.' Sophie said. 'Whatever.' Sara said, finally being able to place down the heavy bed they have been trying to carry up the stairs. 'Well, at least that's the bulk of your moving.' Sophie said. 'Time for me to get down to the van to get my stuff.' she said, walking downstairs. 'Looks like it's just you and me now.' Sara said, looking at the journal her mom had given her the first day of school. She never started writing anything, because her life was perfectly fine before her mom decided it was a good idea to move two days away from her original house. 'Dammit!' she yelped, after bashing her foot off the broken floorboard that was just conveniently been sticking out of the floor, just ready to trip someone. Sara had been subconsciously pacing the length of her room, trying to get her head around the fact she had to leave her perfect life behind because of one stupid mistake. Giving her 'friend' Riley her address. Who later planted a homemade bomb on their lawn. Sara was debating whether to go and tell her mother who did it. But, she knew there was no use as they already moved. 'This is bull!' she yelled. After five more minutes of sulking, she finally decided to sit down on the bed that once sat in a blue, fully furnished and decorated room. The walls adorned with posters and fairy lights. 'I hope we remembered the fairy lights.' she hoped. She walked down the long staircase and walked out to retrieve the last of her belongings from the van. 'Well, finally that's over.' she said, starting to pull out the lights she has been thinking were left behind. 'Yes!' she smiled, starting to pin up the fairly lights. Tiny pinpoints of light danced upon the walls, dark shadows creeping along behind the bulbs. She stared at those shadows 'till they grew darker, and sleep slowly overtook her.
