It wasn't long until Vienna got back to her job. Everybody was so kind and gentle, they brought her food and candies. Why do people think that when someone's gone the first thing you need it's food? Her boss even offered Vienna to take her vacations before time, and extended them, one week! She hated it. She hated the fake kindness, the soft talking, the gifts, the sensitive words. She started resenting everyone. Specially the ones who didn't even knew Bruno that much, but talked about him and about what a great lost his death was. Vienna shutted down every social media account she had, the memories and the fake friends were too much. She didn't even tried a bite of all the food her coworkers and friends gave her. In fact she started eating a lot less. She lost a lot of weight in a very short period of time.Life was plain and simple. Shower, work, home, bed. Repeat. Everyone that tried to reach out to her got blocked. The fake, but also the true friends. People who known her her whole life, her parents, her brother in law, who would call her every night at dinner time trying to make sure she ate. Vienna closed herself to everyone who knew about Bruno's death. Simply because they would talk about Bruno's death. She didn't want to talk about it. She had enough to deal with living in the apartment where they lived for almost three years, or sleeping in the bed where Bruno made her promise they would start a family as soon as she got her first grey hair. That's why she started going to the bar. Despite living across the street, Vienna and Bruno never went to that bar, simply cause they didn't drink that much.
In the closure bar -I'm not joking, it was called "The Closure bar"- Vienna could be just Vienna. A woman having a drink. Not the girl who lost the love of her life in a terrible fire. No, just Vienna. So she went one night, just to get out of the apartment, not even looking for a drink, and the place was packed. Full of random people, no names, no backstory, no commitments. And that's how the straight A's blondie who dreamt of her prince charming and being in love got drunk, badly, for the first time. Tequila sunrise did not taste like it had that much alcohol. It didn't took long for the random dude to show up and invite her another drink. It didn't go fast anyway, they talked, a lot. Danced, kissed. With every drink Vienna had they reached another base of flirting. So when the bartender gave the last call and this random guy - I think his name was Dex or something like that- said "wanna have an after party at my place gorgeous?" her stupid ass could not find anything better to say than "you know what? I live across the street".
And of they went. Luckily, he only wanted sex, cause I assure you Vienna was in no place to tell if he was or was not a dangerous guy. And that's what they did, right on Bruno's bed. Bad, stupid, boring plain sex. Dex got what he wanted, so as soon as the sun came up, he got into his ugly caqui pants and without saying a word, left the apartment. Now you're probably thinking "well, as soon as she realizes what she did she's gonna feel like shit". Wrong. As I've been trying to explain, she felt nothing. No regrets, no pain, no discomfort. This wasn't the same thing she did with Bruno. Even though it was the same bed. She loved Bruno, they loved each other. He used to kiss her as she liked, to touch her and finger her until she came. They made love. She loved kissing him. His back and his arms. Vienna would kiss Bruno's tattoos and he would tickle her on the back of her neck . He even got her to loose the pill. Not to have a baby, but because he read that pills could be harmful to ones body. Love.
This, this she had with Dax, this was just sex. And it fulfilled it's purpose. She stopped, since the fire, at least for one night, she stopped thinking about Bruno's death.
