I was out of the hospital early next morning, but Madam Pomfrey recommended that I didn't go to school today because it could give me a headache, and that could get worse and cause short term memory loss. Which soon after, I'd decided I didn't want!
Nala met me from the hospital wing at 8 and led me to our room."How's your head?" She asked.
"Better. But I'm not in lessons today"
"What?! That's the second day without you! Are you kidding?"
"Nope! But I promise I'll be back tomorrow. What are the teachers like?"
"So cool. Yesterday wasn't very busy or hard because it was the first day... Obviously. Okay, so first I had herbology, and that's taught by Professor Longbottom, he's youngish, and very quiet, but he helped me so much. We were planting Chinese chomping cabbages, and mine sprouted earlier than the others, so he re closed it with some plant glue and helped me plant it. I think I might help out with the greenhouses as well, I enjoy it so much."
We'd reached our dorm before she had finished telling me about her day
"Come to the common room later Nal, we'll talk then. I need to sleep for now"
*TIME SKIP*
Everybody came back from school, I had just woken up. I had slept for the whole day! I knew I probably shouldn't have but my head felt amazing, and daddy used to tell me that when I was ill, it was best for me to rest. I headed down to the common room. All seats were full except for a worn squashy armchair next to a scruffy haired boy. I walked towards him with my book in hand."Is this seat taken?"
He looked up from his homework and smiled at me. Freckles spread across his nose, and when be smiled a dimple caved in on his chin, and his eyes crinkled.
"No, take it...Please"
"Thank you"
I sat down and crossed my legs. He was wearing muggle joggers and a Gryfindoor hoodie. When I sat down he averted his gaze back towards his work and scribbled frantically on the page.
"Hi i'm Cody, I haven't seen you around?"
"Yeah...I've spent most of time in the hospital wing recently" I laughed nervously.
"Why?" He genuinely looked concerned and Its thought that if I told him, he would care.
"Somebody tripped me in the hallway and I hit my head off a statue. I'm not sure who did it though..."
"Wow it's only the second day and somebody has something against you!"
"I know. But I'm trying to not let it bother me"
The clock above the fireplace chimed, informing us that is was half past 6, dinner was downstairs in the great hall. Cody grinned at me and squeezed my hand.
"It'll be fine don't worry. Now come on, I'm starving and I can almost smell the roast beef!"
We made our way down to the hall.
When we got there, it was fairly empty and people were beginning to file in. Cody and I walked towards the gryffindor table and sat next to a second year. She smiled at us, but didn't say anything, it didn't bother us though because we could see she was preoccupied writing a letter.Soon after, we were joined by Leah Penny, Nala, Hannah, and Willow. Leah has pulled her hair up into an intricate bun with plaits intertwined throughout . It looked so pretty, I couldn't help but stare.
"I'll show you how to do it sometime? I mean if you want that..."
"Of course I would, it's gorgeous" I replied.
Dinner was absolutely amazing. I knew that by the end of term I was going to be the size of a house because the house elves here out do themselves every night. But I wasn't complaining, because it was so tasty!
When the plates had disappeared, the headmaster said a few words and dismissed us. It was 8 o'clock now, which meant the first years had 1 hour of free time before we HAD to be in bed. Hannah had grabbed my hand before I could look at Cody, and hurried me upstairs. She didn't stop running until we had reached the painting of the fat lady.
"Password?"
"Fearless and Ferocious" we all recited
The painting swung forwards and revealed the entrance to our common room. Hannah grabbed my hand again and we ran behind all of the other girls to get to our room.
"So...? Why have I been dragged up here against my will?"
"Well... We just wanted to know who Cody is?" Willow questioned.
I could feel my face turning Crimson.
"Oh... He's just a friend"
Everybody, including me, burst out laughing. It was true. I had developed a little crush on him in the few hours that I had known him. But I'm sure it's nothing!
For the rest of the night, we stayed up gossiping and talking about my fall to find out if they knew anything. But nobody did. I had decided to put it all in the past, but Penny and Nala were certain that there was somethig more sinister going on...
