~Troye's POV~

"We need to get out of here!" Zoe cried, racing for the nearest exit with us following close behind. The door was locked. I couldn't figure out why until we all heard a crack of thunder that echoed overhead, and I immediately realized...

"I think the house is protected with an electronic security system. The lightning must have made it malfunction! Shit!" Connor shouted, somehow reading my thoughts. We were all trapped in this stupid house.

"The windows?" Marcus asked hopefully.

"Locked. Didn't you notice last night that there are metal screens on them? Those things are impossible to get through!" I was frustrated. We were all going to die and there was nothing we could do to prevent it from happening.

"The least we can do is live as normally as we can..." Louise suggested.

"Until we die." Phil pointed out, staring at the wall in front of him.

"So, you want to live normally until we're all murdered by a psycho that is probably lurking somewhere around the house right now?" Zoe asked bluntly.

"Well yeah, exactly. Show this psycho that we are not scared." Louise confirmed.

"But we are!" I frowned, looking at all of them. They were equally as terrified as me.

"We can't let him see it. Come on, let's go. Jim, can you throw that damn garbage in the compactor?" Joe asked, pointing at a bag in the corner that indeed smelled horribly.

"Yeah, sure..." He lifted it and left the room. The others and I went back to the living room, sitting down in front of the little fireplace.

~Jim's POV~

So, we're supposed to live normally and the first thing I have to do is take out the trash? What kind of bullshit is this? I sighed. How do you even operate this fancy thing? It was kind of high-tech. I think that you have to place the garbage bag on the metal grates, then pull the lever on the side, which will cause a plate to push it through the grates into a bin below. Pretty cool, I guess. I was about to pull the lever when I heard someone chuckle and a sickeningly familiar voice.

"Jim...you belong on those metal grates, you being a piece of trash and all." I felt that someone shove me, knocking the wind out of me and I was pushed on the compactor.

"N-no!" I managed to choke out, trying to regain my breath.

"Sorry, but no exceptions. It's not like I can recycle trash." He giggled, pulling the lever and disappearing through the door. The plate started a slow descent towards me.

"Help!" I screamed. My heart pounding in my chest, as I put my hands up against the piece of metal, trying to stop it, but it was no use.

I saw my friends rush into the room as the plate came in contact with my skin. I looked at them helplessly as they all frantically tried to shut the device off, but it was too late.

~Troye's POV~

Jim's eyes will haunt me forever. I knew it was a mistake of letting him go alone like that.

He screamed as his ribs started breaking first, the cracking sound unbearable. His ribs were showing clearly through his skin, piercing through his flesh in some places. I quickly covered my ears when he screamed with pure terror and pain, but I could still hear them clearly, adding the constant cracking and shattering of his bones. He looked at us with swollen, bloodshot eyes as the plate started to press onto his head. "I love you guys..." He whispered, the metal started to pass breaking point. He closed his eyes, the plate crushing his skull, splattering blood all over the grates and even spilling some of it on the floor. The plate relentlessly pressed the remains of Jim's body through the grates into the bin below...
