Apollo 19

Chapter 2 - A few days out.

"I'm really glad you guys got here on time, As you guys know, this mission may or may not disappoint, according to all of our research and tests, we're 70% sure there is life, but we are not certain whether its safe or not. Therefore, I have Lee here to speak to you.", Stated Mrs. White.
"Thank you Mrs. White, good afternoon gentlemen, I'm real excited for this project, but as you've been told, its not guaranteed this mission is safe. We're positive there is life but have no clue is this will be a walk on the beach. This planet has aspects similar to earth, deserts, jungles, water, you name it. The day, night, cycle is off though, its approximately four hours of sun and twelve hours of darkness. We have worked on weapons for the last few years while in the making of this amazing new space shuddle. And we expect you to know how to use them."

"So what, now we're space soldiers? How ridiculous", laughed Ruiz.
"I understand you're not used to things like this, but its a very serious matter, we do not know what is in that planet, and its better to be safe than sorry.", Said Lee in a serious manner.
"But lets begin. This weapon has modes depending on what gravity is like. Everything seems to be similar to earth but gravity we can't confirm. It shoots lazers powerful enough to cut through anything at 500 meters in distance, so be careful with it."
Lee began teaching us how to use the weapons hands on and trained in the shooting ranges. We trained for up until 18:30 hours, I've never felt a weapon as powerful is this one.
"Babe, I'm on my way home, have you gotten out of work yet?", I told her as i was putting the music on low driving my Nissan.
"Yeah, I got home early today, Helena got sick and had to pick her up so I just asked for the next few days to spend time with you before you.. well. You know. Are you almost home though? Dinner is ready, I made meat loaf"
"I'm roughly 20 minutes away, I'll be there soon, I love you Jassy"
"I love you more Manny", she said and hung up right away.
I hate when she does that, we always have a thing of saying we love each other more and always hang up right after, or we'll argue for minutes at a time saying who loves each other the most, sadly she always expects me to say it first for her to hang up right after meaning I lost.

"How was work babe?", said Jasmine as she served the Meat loaf.
"Yeah dad, how was your super dupper training??" Said Helena as my other kids stared waiting.
"It was great as always, got to get on that awesome spaceship!! Just like the one you're gonna see Daddy in, in just a few days!"
Jasmine walked to the room, looking sad after that comment.
"Be right back, Mommy and I are gonna talk." I told my kids as I got up to talk to my wife.
"Babe, is everything okay?", I said as I locked the door.
"It's just that I was so happy for you to go on this mission, and now that you're about to leave, Its difficult, and will be difficult for our kids and I. You'll be gone for years.", she said with a trembling voice as tears fell down her cheeks.
"I promise you I will come back. And when I do, we will have the best lives, better than we already do. I promise you that Jassy, I love you."
I hugged her so tight, and we began to kiss, I picked her up took her to bed as I kissed her, Layed her down.
"Only a few years my love. And we'll be happier than ever. I promise".
