Chapter 4 - Alone

Two years in the expedition.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR JASSY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!", Everyone sang as we recorded singing to my beautiful wife.
"Have a Great day Jasmine, you're lucky to have this guy, he never shuts up about you!", said Ruiz as he laughed and held on to me.
Everyone said what they had to say to my wife, and once the cameras turned off, and sent the message we all stopped smiling and went to our stations.
"I hope you get this soon, I know it'll be a month or two past your birthday once you get this, but it will be worth it."

We have one more year before we land Planet 697, and couldn't be any less excited, but I.. well, we felt alone. The first year it was joking around and enjoying being around each other, but once the second year came in we felt lost, we felt alone. We stopped communicating as often and only ever get together when there is someone's birthday, I just wish things could have just finished faster, I miss my family. And I know they miss their family too.
"Manuel, hurry come check this out!", Yelled Jackson from the front of the shuddle.
I floated my way to the front as fast as I could, and heard a thump on the ship.
"What was that??", I yelled nervously
"We're going straight into small bodies sir!!" Yelled McCormick as he tried swerving us out of the way.
We all began to do everything possible to get the shuddle out of the small bodies of rocks that could damage the shuddle any further.
"KEEP THE SHUDDLE STEADY JACKSON, WE'RE ALMOST THROUGH IT" I yelled as the Bodies of rock slammed on to the shuddle causing it to shake like crazy making my heart feel like its on my throat as we tried to stable it.
"Okay, we've made it through the Small bodies, and everything is back to normal, no delay we will get to 697 on time.", Said Jackson leaning as back as possible smiling after making it through such troubles.
Small bodies are rocks in space that orbit around planets.
"Hows the energy on the shuddle", I asked.
"It's great, it still have lots of energy, nearly full." Said Jackson.
"Good, we'll rotate in another hour." I said looking at him before I turned awar and walked to my station.
That was the closest we've been together in about 9 months, and with all honesty although we were in danger I felt great being around them again. But just like life is, we went back to our stations and once again we were Alone.

"Hey dad, come here, look what I found!", said Helena as she began to run out in the field.
I ran behind her smiling as I felt the grass hit my body and my hands brushing through it. I felt happy to be with my daughter once again.
"Dad I need you to close your eyes, and dont peak", she said as she looked at me squinting her eyes and grinning.
I turned around and closed my eyes.
"Okay, you can look!!!" She said.
I turned around to see her holding a rock
"What do you think dad??" She said with excitement.
"It's beautiful, what will you name it?" I said as I kneeled to look at the rock.
"Its a rock dad, it can't have a name.", she said in a jokingly tone.
"But you can name it. If you like the rock so much, you can give it a name and keep it."
"Okayyy, I'll call it Rocky!" She said with excitement.
"Like the Movie?", I asked her with a smile.
"What movie?"
"Right.. I haven't shown you who Rocky is.", I told her as I got off my knee and stood up.

All I do is stare at that rock everyday, I could stare at it for hours on end rethinking about that day as if it were only yesterday.
"I miss you guys, I love you, I love you so much."
