Nicole walked into the station, with her head high, trying to hide her true emotions. She hated being vulnerable, throughout her life people told her that it made her weak. And so in most cases she decides to hide it.
She knows the people she surrounds herself with now are different, but she still can't shake the feeling...its all she knows.
Before she was able to reach her desk, Nedley signaled for her to enter his office.
She sighed to herself and followed, trying to push down her feelings further so that Nedley wouldn't notice. Although, it was probably too late for that.
Once they had both entered the shabby office, Nedley closed the door behind them and they both took a seat.

"Alright, i'm gonna get straight to the point here...What're you doing here Haught?"
He asked, which received a very confused look from the deputy.

After a short pause she responded "I'm doin my job sir" she responded with her head held a bit higher, she did that whenever she spoke about her job, she was always proud of what she does. Nothing could change that, it was just a automated response.

"You know as well as i do that we cant do our jobs properly when our judgement is clouded, and you may try and hide it, but we all know whats goin on Haught...and we are here for you. But you gotta help yourself and take a break, its for your own good." He said with concern for the deputy. In a way, she was like a daughter to him, and he wanted the best thing for her. He knew of Nicole's background, so he wanted to be the father figure that she never truly had in her life.

The was a short silence that filled the air. Nicole's face was riddled with confusion. "Sheriff you cant do this...I need the distraction. Please." She pleaded with him.

She knew she couldn't handle everyone looking at her and feeling sorry for her. That's why she hasn't told everyone about her past, she doesn't want the pity. She also couldn't handle being around Waverly, not now...not like this.

"I'm sorry Haught but if you don't take some time off i'm gonna have to suspend you" he said a little more stern now.

She sighed and her head fell to the floor, before she finally nodded and left the station. She got into her cruiser and began to drive, although, she had no idea where she was going. She wasn't driving long before her phone buzzed multiple times in her pocket. She looked confused as she started to pull to the side of the road, she had no idea who it could be as it was still pretty early.

She pulled out her phone and she wasn't expecting who it was from...Waverly. She opened the message frantically, desperate for any form of interaction with her.

Waverly: "Hey. I know that we haven't had a chance to speak since the accident. I'm sorry. I guess i've been overwhelmed to say the least. So much has changed for me. I may not remember you, but hopefully you can give me the chance to get to know you all over again. I have nothing to do today if you want to do something...catch a coffee or something?"

A giddy smile accompanied by dimples quickly appeared on her face. Every time she saw Waverly's name her heart flutters and skips a beat, she couldn't help it. Nicole read the message over and over again. She couldn't stand being apart from Waverly any longer, she had to meet her, even if it was hard to be with her and not be with her at the same time. She quickly responded.

Nicole: "Hey. I'm sorry too. I may have over reacted when i ran out of the hospital. I wold love to catch a coffee. Would you like me to pick you up?"

Nicole sent the message after writing it several times. She didn't know what to write. Her phone buzzed again and she opened the reply.

Waverly: "Yeah sure. How about lunch at the diner. Pick me up at 12?"

Nicole's heart did a backflip inside her chest. her mind flickered back to what Wynonna had told her not so long ago. She needed to remind Waverly who she was, and what they were. And that's exactly what she needed to do, no matter how long it takes.
