BEYOND THE NEBULA

Chapter I

I lean in to get a better look at the figures carved on the metal wall, not sure if I can make out anything from them but I turn back and give a reassuring smile to the shivering humanoid standing just a few feet behind looking scared half to death. Through my cloudy helmet the smile might not be visible but she gives a slight nod of her already shaky head confirming my suspicion of her advanced vision. I take out my reader and begin scanning the figures while constantly looking behind more to study the possibly traumatized humanoid under my care than avoiding the bright blue rays emitted from my reader as it decodes what now appears to be an alien code of some sort.
She had told me her name was kira olze, said she was not from the region of the galaxy which we were now presently stuck in for a reason unknown to both of us, earlier when I stumbled upon her crashed space pod by the mountains there where writings on it, writings that were used only in the outer regions of the galaxy, writings that as a child I had dreaded coming across
If my memories are correct it'll mean I have under my care one of the same race that murdered my mum and half my species The Human species.

Kira rose to her full height of 6'1 revealing the gash in her lower abdomen, it was bleeding out a yellow fluid. She walked towards me covering half the distance between us. My reader beeps and I'm forced to remove my eyes from the humanoid I've been with for the past four hours, turning my head I gape as i'm faced with the now decoded figures. We were on gaz planet as the figures suggested, the planet of the seekers the most advanced beings in our galaxy
I turn off my reader to save its power, wondering why the seekers brought a humanoid and I to their planet. I turn back to look at kira she's now sitting on the ground, the yellow fluid that she's loosing seems to be weakening her

"Are you alright?" I ask knowing that she's not

"I'll be fine, I heal fast." kira unconsciously touches the gash "Do you know where we are?"

"I think we're on gaz planet, but what I don't know is why."

Kira immediately looks away but not before I see it in her eyes, the fear, she's afraid of being here even more than I am. This makes me wonder, what could she be afraid of; the seekers or the fact that she's on gaz.

"Do you mind telling me what you know" I bet she only told me a fraction of the whole truth, maybe she even knows why we're here.

Kira looks at me directly in the eyes, hers widened with shock
"I told you everything, you don't believe me?"

"Come on kira I just meet you, and I've been with you for like four hours, all you've told me is not more than what I can read on your pod's ID."

"I also told you I was in danger and needed help" kira said trying to stand but immediately falling back to the ground

"I know that, the gash in your abdomen is clear to me" I take two steps and I'm now in front of her, if I was not wearing an air mask I would be breathing the gas she exhaled
"Kira all you've told me are obvious things, I'm stuck on this planet with an injured humanoid, I need you to tell me something I don't know, tell me the whole truth!"
Right now am loosing it. My anger is fuming, I don't know if it's because I'm am stranded on a planet with someone I suspect to be among the murderers of half my race and the one person I've ever loved or the fact that she might be lying to me, maybe she's not in danger, maybe I'm in danger standing with someone who has the ability to kill four of my kind at once.

"Jake, if we're really on gaz then I believe you have better things to worry about than thinking I lied to you" kira manages to stand and is now looking at me in the eyes, her green ones sending me an authoritative look I've not seen before in her, she has her head tilted up a little due to my 6'5" height in space boots that are two inches high. " We need to find a way out of this planet and fast"

"We? I don't think I'll be going any further with you, I don't even know who you really are, at least I thought I did with all the lies you've been telling me" I take a step back while keeping my gaze on hers " Why are you even on this planet? Are you even really in danger, Kira tell me the truth!"

Kira takes a step forward coming directly in front of me, I notice her bracelet carrying the same writings her space pod had, I unconsciously tighten my jaw muscles at the sight of those writings, disturbing memories flashing though my mind, I clench my fist and before I can regain myself I fall to the ground hard as I always do when the memories come, shut my eyes. My mum, I can see her, she being brutally beaten, she tries to defend herself with her space cadet skills. I try hard to run and help her, but I can't, its dark from the closet where she had locked me and begged me for silence, I see it, the most terrifying image I'll ever see. "MUM!!!!"
Damn memories, I'm helpless when they come. I grip hard on the ground then I realise myself, I open my eyes to meet Kira's widened ones, the memories always made me powerless when they ran through my mind but now is not the time for that having someone who can murder me even in an injured state, in front of me.

"Are you OK?" Kira says as she bends down trying to touch me and I see her injury in a blur vision noting that its healing quick "Jake you were..."

I interrupt Kira as I spot a small spherical object that rose from the cliff behind her glowing in the dimly lit atmosphere"What's that?"

"Jake, you and l need to..." Kira turns as she begins to hear the buzzing sound of the orb coming up behind her
I see her pupil change red, she fumes up with an emotion that's maybe anger. Kira held the healing gash in her abdomen with her left hand and she stretches her right towards the orb. I'm shocked to my bones, I'm suppose to be guarding her from the supposed danger she's in, even though I have my doubt but here I am with my butt on the ground and she, turning, turning into something I've never seen before. Kira's skin becomes radiant a moist barrier originating from her stretched hand forming around us, it's a forcefield just like my mum usually created for defence but only with a machine she carried around on her neck, the difference is Kira's own came naturally it tries to cover us but fails, I'm hit on my abdomen region, the blow which seem like I've been hit by a tank knocks me out but not before I hear a loud BANG.
