BEYOND THE NEBULA

Chapter 2

I open my eyes, there's a sharp pain in my abdomen from were I was hit. From what I can see, I'm in a room of some sort with jelly like walls and a steel floor. I turn my head and notice that I'm alone, Kira is not with me, there's another jelly like confinement opposite mine with a figure I can't see clearly sitting calmly inside
I try to move my hands but I can't, they're stuck. I look down at my bruised abdomen and realize that am not wearing my spacesuit anymore and my upper body is bare,with sweat trickling down my chest, moving down to my green jeans. I'm breathing just fine which means there's oxygen in my confinement
I hear footsteps approaching, they echo in the mid passage way. A huge figure of about 6'8 emerges from the side and walks down to my confinement, it touches the walls and the middle melts away leaving no barrier between me and the broad looking being who I believe is a seeker.
The whitish blue looking being who look masculine makes his way through the melted part of the now turbulent jelly wall, he walks towards me with steady steps that vibrated the steel floor which my hands are strapped to behind me. More sweat trickle down my chest and now my fore head as the monstrous looking being's figure grows larger at his approach.
He now stands right in front of me, he looks really beautiful. The seekers during their various evolutions have been believed to have attained a way to respire making use of any gas available, if non, they created their own from a hole at both sides of their neck just below their long ears, then inhale the gas back through their small pointy nose. I now had proof of that as the seeker in front of me stood, breathing in the gas that filled the room, oxygen.
At that moment, I begin to hear cracking noises, which sends goosebumps popping out of my bare upper arms. At the noises the strap that held me firmly like a prisoner which I guess I was, loosened setting me free and also relieving me of a cramped shoulders caused from bounded hands. I stand up straighten myself to my full height as the Alien in front of me stood far taller. Regardless of my towering appearance to many beings I've meet, this guy seemed to look at me with so much ease, giving him more beauty to his already beautiful face. He was way taller, bigger and most certainly stronger, his towering over me sent familiar shivers down my spine. The truth would be I'm scared, so scared I wish I could disappear or fade, but that's not what I was planning on showing to the beast of a being standing at a dangerously close distance, I tightened my jaw muscles, head held high, I was not ready to let my glaring fear be seen by this guy who is so advanced I'm guessing he can read my mind. I'M READY TO FOOL MYSELF INTO BELIEVING I'M NOT AFRAID, BUT THAT DIDN'T LAST LONG.
I'm lifted off my feet by the strong hands of the muscular being, he carries me like a bag of food over his shoulder it all happened so fast that I didn't even try to stop the being from walking out of the confinement with me on his shoulder.

The mid passageway is large, am seeing the ceiling for the ground but it's no different, they look the same. Everything is built alike, the right side of the seekers empire and the left. From stories of the past, the seeker did this to limit the stress that affects their brain in mastering and remembering places which for an advanced race like them surprises me because of their lack of stress endurance whether mental or physical. I wish I was enough to be stress for the being that carried me but no, I was very light weight for him because he was from what I concluded a beast of strength.
I see movements through my burling vision, the movements seem to be coming from the confinement that was opposite mine the figure stands and moves to the jell like walls watching as I am carried to another section of the seekers empire, I could still breath indicating the presence of oxygen everywhere but then I notice something on my neck releasing oxygen gas for me to breath, the seeker carrying me must have put it there because without it I would have suffocated to death from the moment I was lifted out of my confinement.
Sounds of Foot steps pound in my head as I am carried through what I think has been a five minutes walk. I'm carried through an open door, the door which seem solid and has great resemblance to polished steel that is used on earth shuts after I am carried in.
It has to be the most advanced open space I've ever seen. I am hurled to the ground, my body aches with grave pain as I stand up.
I see kira and it seems like forever since I last saw her, I'm angry at myself for missing a stranger who probably might have been lying to me since I met her. Kira is strapped to a wall made of a strange metal, her eyes to the ground then she looks up and sees me she gives a faint smile that I don't return, I'm confused, so confused why was I here, I had things to complete.
I take two steps forward my vision becoming very clear then I notice that I stand taller than all the beings in the room apart from the one who bought me, Kira is even way taller than all the other seekers I just meet. A robot like thing moves up to me and automatically the wall Kira is strapped to moves close to me, Kira tighten her jaw in pain and looks at me with a confused look, I look away.
The thing in front of me and kira turns around then I noticed it had it's back turned to us initially, it starts speaking
"Welcome, beings from another world, brought here by our transporter. We are the seekers, heads of the universe, feared beings of a civilized nature. We summoned you both here, interrupting your transportation as you are mere beings at the hands of our dictation." The robots vibrates a little indicating the end of what I call an insulting welcome speech.
A hologram appears in front of us showing us the picture of a young universe, our universe, then the robot begins to speak again
"from the dawn of the universe we seekers had always found a way to defeat our enemies and rivals. We successfully made it to being the most experienced and advanced beings in the universe by wiping out our age graded neighbors during the early ages of the universe in an operation we called Rapid mutual termination.
But there was a region of our galaxy so powerful that we could not conquer, this region was thought so solemn and unreachable it was thought to be uninhabited by our early population but was recently discovered to be sparsely populated by non visible but physical beings called The Energies."

I am surprised by this second speech, I always thought of the seekers to be universally dominant, maybe they are because I never heard of any race more superior from my mother who I believed studied the universe extensively. I look at kira and she is as surprised as I am.
As if in response to my thoughts the robot speaks up again and I realise it was only translating the words of a seeker who sat in a kind of panel made up of very short seekers.
"We seekers as a way to hide our non totality in the governance of the universe in physical, made maps of the vast universe we live in, made descriptions of every living and nonliving matter, even all bodies of the universe but intensionally omitting the presence of the Energies in our universal manual mapping. All the beings in the universe think us supreme as to physical rule. That way we stayed on top, we stayed feared, making us able to request of any natural resources; metals of all sort, chemicals, gases, even biological life forms from any race in the universe, this we did without any form of payment or trust for future assistance between us and the other races of the universe making us the most advanced species of the universe" The robot makes a beeping sound, the hologram that has been displaying different universal images since the speech began went off.

I swallow hard as I prepare to speak what would be my first utterance here
"Why are you telling us this, clearly it's not just to make us feel comfortable" I turn to Kira and notice that she's now free and she's standing on her feet rubbing her wrist "I've not met her before today, I have things to tackle back on my home planet, I don't have time for this!"

"Jake you shouldn't talk that way, this creatures are ruthless" Kira says to me in a whisper "they..."

"Kira" I interrupt "I don't know what to think of you, hours ago you didn't care much about anything but the supposed danger you were in and leaving this planet, now you care about the way I talk to.."
I'm interrupted by a loud shout of "SILENCE" from the translating robot
"You were not told this for nothing, Your ancestry had no knowledge of this. You have no choice, we interrupted your lives because the Energies have risen from their solitude and may pose a treat to us seekers and probably you little meaningful beings of the universe. We need both of you to go to the region of the Energies and come back with a feed back of their nature, invisible physical form, their greatest weakness and every information you can gather"

"And what if we don't?" I say straighten my back and taking a dangerous step forward

The seeker who the robot is translating narrows radiant blue eyes at me "It is known to us that beings from both of your regions have suffered grave destruction and brutality as having half your race wiped out Jake," at that word I look at Kira with anger knowing there's a great possibility she's from the race that killed half of mine. "And Kira your people faced great doubt and immoral beliefs that caused and is still causing grave pain to them and some of the regions of the galaxy"

Right now, I am being threatened by a race of self-centered powerful beings, why are bad things lining up for me,why! "Where are you getting with this?" I say looking at the seeker who just threatened me and noticing Kira seems to support me this time.
The seeker who's speaking gives me a cool look "What I mean is, we know you people care little for your lives" this comes with a smile "so if you disagree we would not only erase you both but also erase all inhabitants of your home planet." And with that an even bigger smile.
I look at Kira who just keeps quiet and looks back at me, I'd be in yet another strange planet with her, her!
