Just the two of Us

The blinkers clicked in a repeated notion. It reminded me of the sound my tongue made when popping it against the roof of my mouth.

"Clink clink clink"

Kevin kept his eyes on the road as we drove in silence.

"I would like a do over...on the kiss. I realize the type of connotation that mini golf place has" Kevin blurted out, breaking the silence.

My heart raced.

Was he really asking for a do over?

Kevin rambled on, "Plus that wasn't my best work. I could do waaaaay better." he emphasized.

My body tingled in response to his assertion. I felt a pleasant heat rising in my body.

"You can?" I asked weakly.

Kevin nodded, just as eager for a part two.

"If we are going to date, then I should probably talk to our parent's" he continued on his train of thought.

My mind was still recovering from the rush of endorphins, and I couldn't keep up with how fast he was going.

"Wait! Slow down." I squeaked.

"It's a red light," Kevin replied, looking confused.

I shook my head, "I meant with us. I don't think we should date... I mean I don't want to..." I confessed.

Now Kevin was silent.

I sighed, this was all faster than I expected, even for a revenge plan.

"Don't you think we should spend some time getting to know each other first? I mean, what's the rush?" I asked, trying to sound sincere.

Kevin looked at me sheepishly, "You are right! I want it to be sincere, and not come off as I'm just trying to hook up with you even though you are hot!" he gushed.

I bit my nails, part of me really could like Kevin. Everything he said sounded sincere and the more I got to know him, the harder it was to hate him.

Kevin reached over, his hands touched mine, like a connection that couldn't be severed.

"I don't want to pressure you, I just really like you Grace" he promised.

Guilt was like a huge sledgehammer pounding away at my stone heart. I felt disgusted as I looked at the happiness in Kevin's eyes.

"I have to tell you the tru..." I started to say, but stopped.

The engine of Kevin's truck coughed violently, and black funnels of exhaust rose from the engine, as it started to slow down.

Kevin cursed, "Crap! This car breaks down every minute!" he complained, slamming on the breaks.

"You need me to call someone?" I offered.

Kevin shook his head, "No, because then my dad will know I went out tonight without permission. I'll just push it to your house, and then call him. We aren't too far," he said looking around.

I looked at my outfit unsure about this, I was half naked, wearing a full face of makeup, and a glamours pair of sandals.

I hoped out the car, "Fuck it" I told myself, as I stood behind the car with both hands on the bumper, ready to push.

Kevin's jaw dropped, and beads of sweat trickled down his forehead, "Geeez Grace, you're torturing me" he whimpered.

"What?!" I laughed, confused.
