It turned out the little part of actual 'land' they were at, actually followed a day and night schedule. Which, was actually really great for Hope, considering that she still felt tired. Honestly though she would've rather had the feeling of hunger left rather than be fatigue. Sure she loved sleeping, but not when she had someone to watch out for. What would happen if she went to sleep and Clarke decided that he wanted to choke her?
She really didn't think he would, considering that if he killed her then he would be alone. As far as she could tell, he didn't like the idea of spending a decade all alone. She definitely wouldn't.
Hope looked over to him, and saw that he was peacefully throwing a stick back and forth between his hands. He then dropped the stick and cursed to himself.
Hope smiled, "having stick troubles?"
He simply shook his head, mocking her. "Oh i'm Hope, I never make anyyyy mistakes."
She just looks at him and casts a spell, splitting his stick in half. "Damn right I don't."
Hope could see the small smile on his face, but he just turns towards her and sticks out his tongue. How mature of him, she thought to herself.
A loud, deep, scream, then came from beside them. Hope jumped, almost falling on her back. She looked over to Clarke, only to find that he looked as started as her. The ground began to shake and she could hear the sound of rocks hitting the ground.
"CLARKE?" She screamed. "WHAT IS HAPPENING?"
He looked at a complete loss for words, and struggling to even stand upright. She had never seen him so scared, not even when she had thrown him into the pit.
"D-d-dragon," he managed to stutter out.
Hope froze, her eyes wide and her jaw gone slack. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. A dragon? Was he insane?
Hope Then Saw The 15 foot tall dragon angrily stomping its way over to them. Still laying on her back, Hope quickly crab walked the opposite direction. Her back hit a tree and she looked straight towards the dragon with fear.
She thought about just running away from, after all it hadn't look at her, only at Clarke. She stood up and was about to break into a sprint, until she saw him.
Clarke's face held a desperate plea, she hasn't ever seen him that vulnerable before. He usually hid his emotions and kept them locked up. But, seeing his face right now, strewn up in horror while facing the terrifying beast, she felt guilt sink into her bones. He just kept trying to get up and run, but he couldn't, the dragon's stomps were too much for him to keep balance.
She looked back and forth between them, before deciding, screw it. I'm not spending eternity alone in a freaking mud hole.
She ran towards him, screaming until her throat felt like it was burning the life out of her lungs. The dragon swung its head toward her with a nasty look on its face. "Yea that's right, over here ugly!" She screamed.
She put her hands up yelling the words to her spell, but before she could finish, the dragon swing its sharp claws at her. She ducked down as fast as the could, almost getting impaled by the dragon's spear like claws.
She looked behind her, finding a tall tree. Easily twice the size of the huge beast. Hope smiles to herself as she cast a spell and the tree begins to crack and break. The dragon shrieks as the tree falls on top of it, smashing his head into the ground. It's sickening sound came to her ears, before the dragon turned into ashes. All that was left was the fallen tree.
Hope stood up and ran over to Clarke, who was laying there on the ground in shock. He had scrapes all over his body, and cuts from tree branches falling on him, all over his face. Clarke's mouth was open and it looked like he was breathing faster than normal.
"Hey, hey, Clarke? It's okay, the dragons gone," she spoke to him in a low voice.
He slowly came out of his trance and looked over to her, eyes wide in gratitude, just a flash and then his eyes held no emotion again.
"My face hurts."
Hope couldn't help but breath out a laugh. "Here, hold still, i'll help you."
She whispered a spell to herself, placing her hand on his cheek. After a couple seconds, she opened her eyes and lifter her hand from his face. The scratches and bruises were gone and all that was left of the knowledge of him getting hurt were the memories, and Clarke's burning, red cheeks.
Hope falls back onto the ground with a soft hmph. She just looks to the sky, the sun somehow not blinding her eyes. All the noise between them was her tired panting and his uneven breathing.
She was glad that she didn't let him die. She didn't want to be alone.
