"WHAT NO" Michael gasped, standing up from the chair.

"NO NO NO NO NO NO..." He started panting. "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!"  "YOU CAN'T-"

"Michael calm down..." Jacob said, clearly feeling guilty.

"I HAVE HAD MY OWN ROOM FOR ALMOST ALL OF THE YEARS I HAVE LIVED HERE I CAN'T, I- I" Michael excalamed, before falling onto his knees, hands covering his eyes.

"Michael... I'm sorry... but there’s no other rooms, the only time you have shared a room is part of your first year here, you never know, maybe you two will become friends.." Jacob said trying to soothe Michael by rubbing his back. Michael started to cry. He hated people, as strange as that sounds. He especially hated people around his age, as they all would just make fun of him. He has had his own room basically for all the time he had been here. He had a roommate when he first got here aged 13, but that didn't go well, the guy, whatever his name was, bullied him badly, calling him a freak, a waste of air, and he just constantly beat him. Michael asked for a room change multiple times, and they finally gave in 2 months later. He has had his own room ever since, and has enjoyed it a lot better here.

Michael sniffed and then quickly rubbed his eyes, before standing up, pushing Jacob out the way. He quickly ran out the door up the stairs. Once he reached his room, he got inside and locked it. He started to cry again, silently this time, and slid down the back of his door. He sat there, for god knows how long, just crying to himself, thinking about all the scenarios that could happen tomorrow. He tried to prepare himself for the beating and countless abuse that would most likely start tomorrow, but every time he thought about it, he would just cry some more.

Once he had calmed down, which took a while, he slowly got himself up, wiping away the last of his tears. Sh*t. He suddenly remembered that he had just left Jacob sitting there, and that he had actually shoved him to the side. He suddenly felt really guilty and decided to go and find him to apologise. But he would have to face everyone again. Michael was the only one who contently stayed in his room, sure everyone went to their rooms once in a while, but Michael practically lived in his room. He only came down when needed, breakfast and dinner. He braced himself, before opening the door and walking downstairs, in search of Jacob. He checked the kitchen, which no one was in, and then he checked the games room, which Jacob wasn't in, but instead he found Macy, Lilly and Jennifer. He smiled at them sheepishly before backing out of the room slowly. As soon as he closed the door he heard a whisper before loud giggling. He sighed, assuming that they were laughing at him. He closed his eyes, facing the wall and resting his hands on it. He focused on controlling his breathing. He started to sweat a little. Why were the laughing? Did he have something on his face? Did he do something wrong? Thoughts whizzed around Michael's mind about why they could of been laughing. Meanwhile, he was still holding onto the wall, trying to take deep breaths. Suddenly, he felt a hand rest on his shoulder. He whipped his head around, only to find Jacob standing there, with a small smile on his face. He smiled shyly, turning his body fully towards Jacob.

"Michael, I'm sorry that you have to share a room, but we honestly have no room. You know I wouldn't put you through pain for no reason" Jacob said, rubbing Michael's arm gently. Michael tensed a bit, before finally relaxing.

"I know that now, I'm so sorry for what I did earlier..." Michael mumbled, looking at his feet. Jacob smiled at him. A genuine smile, not a fake one like earlier. Michael had really grown to like Jacob, within this half day, which seemed silly as it usually took ages to properly like someone.

"Michael, you don't need to apologise, I understand why you did it. How about we go to the nurses and have a little talk though?" Jacob asked, slightly worrying about how he would react.

"...ok..." Michael said, quietly, his voice barely audible.  Jacob smiled at him again, before walking to the nurses room. Michael waited for a few seconds. Unsure if he should follow. But he gave in and followed Jacob to the nurses.

Jacob was already sitting down by the time Michael  had come in, he was sitting in the same seat as earlier. Michael closed his eyes slightly and took a seat beside him, letting out a big sigh.

"Ok Michael, I know you don't want to be here but I really think it will help you get over your social anxiety." He said, smiling widely at Michael. Michael nodded. Nothing more. Just a nod.

"Ok so the first thing we need to discuss is why you are here." Jacob said softly, trying not to hurt Michael's feelings.

"Were here because you think I'm a freak." Michael snapped. Immediately regretting it once he saw the look on Jacob's face.

"Michael that is not the reason we are here." He said sternly. "We are here to help you."

"Yeah. Just like my parent's tried to." Michael said, staring straight ahead. Loosing all feeling. "But look where that got me." Michael looked down at his feet. Jacob lifted Michaels head up by placing his hand under his chin.

"Michael, you’re like a little brother to me. You know I'm not doing this to hurt you, I just want to make you feel better" He said, making eye contact with him, which Michael tried to break. Michael mumbled something that was supposed to be an apologise. Jacob smiled weakly, not fully conviced Michael was ok.

"So why do you think you are here?" Jacob asked again. "It's NOT because you're a freak..."He smiled reasuringly.

"Because of my social anxiety..." Michael mumbled.

"Yes, and I wan't to help you get over it, no matter how long it takes" Jacob smiled again.  Michael lifted his head and smiled weakly at Jacob.

"Ok, I think that's enough for today. You can just go back to your room and I will get someone to bring your dinner up to you." He smiled at Michael, and Michael returned the smile.

Michael quickly nodded to Jacob, before heading upstairs and into his room. He ran back over to his bed and jumped on it, landing softly on his memory foam mattress. He examined the room, taking in all the little features that would be shortly moved, to make room for his new "roommate."

No. He was not going to get himself all worked up about this now. Breath. Michael breathed in, and then out. He couldn't be bothered with dinner that night. He just crawled into his bed and hoped his roommate would be nice.
