chapter seventy-one

SEVEN YEARS AND FIVE MONTHS LATER

zach stayed the night with jack. he was awake majority of the night though.

either crying over their fight or just not being able to sleep.

zach had grown so used to the feeling of having daniel cuddle with him as he slept that he can't sleep without that feeling now.

when he woke up in the morning, he first thought it was all just a dream, but then realized that he wasn't in their room.

he left and saw jack making breakfast, "sit. eat." the older directed him, "jack you didn't have to."

"ah, but i did.. what are you going to do about it?" "i'm gonna eat it cause you're a really good cook." he giggled.

corbyn came back in the morning, he went home last night so he could make sure thea got to school okay.

but after dropping her off, he went straight back to jack's.

the three sat together, talking for a little while until someone began knocking loudly on the door.

"jack i know you're home, please open up. i know he's here i just want to talk to him... please!"

jack was hesitant, but he did end up opening the door. "thank you..." daniel spoke under his breath, "zach please i'm so sorry."

daniel crouched down in front of him to get a better look of his boyfriend's face as he would apologize.

"why did you say it?" "i didn't mean to.. i regretted it the second i said it. zach, baby i know you hate it and i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have said it."

"but that's not the whole reason you're mad, what's bothering you? i know something's bothering you but you won't tell me."

"i don't understand why you don't want me to go with you." zach mumbled just loud enough for them to hear.

"are you kidding? of course i want you to come with me! i'd want nothing more! but i don't want you to rearrange your entire schedule for it."

"what?" "zach, you've got meetings to go to, you've got books to write and publish. what kind of boyfriend would i be if i made you move everything around for me?"

zach didn't say anything in response, beginning to feel a little bad.

"what i don't understand is why you came up with a bunch of reasons why i should push the tour back, and i did. but now when i have to go on it, you're fighting me on it."

"because i don't want you to go! okay? i don't want you to go and as much as it's selfish, i don't care!"

daniel stood up a bit and wrapped his arms around him. "i don't want to feel like i'll lose you." he muttered.

"but you won't.. honey, you're never going to lose me okay?"

"c'mon.. can we go home?" daniel asked him cautiously, "i still haven't forgiven you."

"i didn't expect you to. but come home with me... i promise– i swear on everything, i will never call you that again."

"and i'll do my best to get the message next time before it turns to a big fight. i promise."

reluctantly, zach decided on going home, jack and corbyn both gave him a hug before he left.

when they got home, daniel stood in front of him in nervous silence for a moment.

"i know you're mad at me, but are you mad enough to not let me kiss you?" he asked, desperately wanting to kiss him.

"i am mad at you. but still love you, so i guess you could." daniel didn't even wait another second before he slotted their lips together.

"baby i'm so sorry." he mumbled against his lips, zach just hummed in response. "is there anything you can think of that'll get you to forgive me?"

daniel asked, pulling away just the slightest, their faces only millimeters apart.

"i can think of one or two things..." "and those are?"

"one, take me to disneyland." zach smiles, "easy." "two.. i think you know what it is." his smile turns to a smirk as daniel crashed their lips back together.

"done and done." he muttered into the kiss. "i love you baby, i'm so sorry."
