" Hey! Willow, hold up," my crush Derek Banks put a hand on my shoulder to stop me from moving. I couldn't believe it, other than the fact that he got my name wrong, he had touched me and had actually verbally communicated with me. I grinned at him, maybe he was going to ask me out, "if I pay you 20 bucks will you do my algebra homework?" His smile charmed me, the same smile that had girls falling at his feet.

My grin dropped. " N-No."

I was about to turn around but his iron grip on my shoulder tightened, " 30 bucks?"

I try, I really do. I try to just dully say no to people and just walk away but I can't. I sighed and nodded. His charming smile widened and he handed me his algebra homework and 30 dollars. He then walked away, not thanking me. He didn't acknowledge my presence anymore after that, unless it had to do with me doing his homework. Not only that, but I always for got to tell him my name is actually Willa.

But that was years ago. Derek left for military school in sophomore year and I haven't seen him since. It's now Senior year and there are rumors saying that he's coming back.

I closed the door to my locker and walked down the hallways with my best friend, Lina. " Obviously if he comes back, Shayla will be all over him." She states, referring to our school whore. The girl likes any breathing thing with a penis hanging in between his legs. She's been after Derek since 7th grade. As we walked past people, I handed them their homework.

Lina frowned as I handed out the sheets of paper, " You should stop letting people take advantage of you and grow a pair," she dodged a paper ball hitting her face, " these animals need to learn how to do their shit themselves."

The hallways were crowded. Skaters skateboarded down the hallways, jocks played football by throwing their textbooks, cheerleaders practiced their routines, popular girls stood at their lockers applying lipstick, goths pushed past everyone with headphones in their ears, and basic nerdy nobody's like us walked to their classrooms. Once we were safely in our classroom and have escaped the jungle of high school students, we took a seat and continued with our discussion. No one else was in the room but us.

" Anyway, back to Derek, I hear he's coming back next week." I try to change the subject. I really was excited for ' Derek's arrival '.

Lina rolled her eyes and smacked her lips. " Who cares about Derek?!? The guy barely acknowledged your existence."

I frowned and played with my fingers, " I don't crush your hopes and dreams when you talk about Mark..."

Mark was the captain of the schools basketball team. He was a very decent guy, compared to the other pigs roaming this school. Lina has a huge crush on him.

Lina replied back almost immediately, " Yeah, but Mark and I actually talk. And he knows I exist. Derek only ever acknowledged you when he wanted you to do his homework. It's different."

I was about to retort back but the bell rang and students started piling into the classroom. Mr. Duncan, an old guy in his 50's started droning on about World War 2. I started taking notes as he walked around the room. History sucks.

^~^~^

I quickly got into the lunch line before it got longer. When the whole senior class was in the lunch line, you could be standing there for about half an hour before actually getting your lunch. I got Lina and I lunches and scurried to my table, with my head down.

People started dropping 20's and 50's on my table, as well as their homework. Pretty soon there was a line. I don't actually do all the homework, I do about 15 each day at school, and another 15 at home. And most of the time I have to do 10 of the same homework. So I jus copy from the others.

Lina pushed through the line and glared at people. " Get out! Go on, give the girl some space!"

Everyone was scared of Lina, even the principal. So it wasn't surprising when the kids gathered at my table ran off, wide-eyed.

Lina sat down across from me and pocketed a 20. I shook my head at her but couldn't fight off the smile on my face. She shrugged and started eating her lunch, " It didn't have a home."

" So your pocket is it's home?" I asked as I put all the homework in my folders. I then count the money and stuff it into my wallet. $200.

Lina starts telling dry-but funny jokes as we eat lunch. But of course, someone had to ruin it. " Oi! Willa your hyena-like laugh makes me think we're in the Lion King." Shayla Jenson screeches while waltzing over to our table, with her fake Barbie dolls following close behind.

But as always, Lina comes to my defense. " Oi! Shayla, your caked-up face makes me think we're in a Crayola commercial!"

The whole cafeteria bursts out laughing, even the lunch ladies.

With mouth wide open, Shayla scoffs and turns to her bitches behind her, but even Lilly and Gwen-the Barbies are laughing. " Yeah...well...Willa had never had her fist kiss!"

Silence.

Then the whole cafeteria bursts out laughing. But at me.

Suddenly the smile on my face drops and is replaced with a frown. I can feel my cheeks burning up in embarrassment. The next thing happens in a blur. Lina stands up, milk carton in hand. She then walked up to Shayla, and before anyone could comprehend what was happening, she dumped the icy-cold milk on Shayla's head.

Then food was being thrown around everywhere. And I was wrestling with Lina and Shayla on the ground, trying to break them up.

A loud screech was heard through the cafeteria. Principal Steinhowser.

His loud footsteps echoed through the silent room. Everyone stared at him in shame. " EVERYONE CLEAN THIS MESS UP. NOW! WE WILL TALK ABOUT THIS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR AT A LATER TIME!"

He yelled so loud his face turned red. He then turned to us, food dripping down our faces and body. " And you three. In my office. Now."
