"Hey, are you crying?" Says Amanda
I am at school reading Master's Pet. When I began to cry. I didn't cry all night because it's unsafe to express emotions at my house. However, I held it in too long
"This book is really touching." I lie as I wipe away at my own tears. Amanda doesn't see now because I shifted the book to be in between our eyes
"Master's Pet doesn't sound very touching, or something you should read."She replies
"I'm sure you heard about Yumu's leaving." She continues
"Yes, I have," I say with a cold expression after whipping away tears.
"He's holding a party at 5 after school today, and ask me to tell you. He said something happens between you and him yesterday that prevented him from telling you." I forget I just blank out yesterday after he told me. I should say sorry to him.
"Yes, my phone ran out of battery." I lie
"That's what happens?" She asks
"Nevermind that, do you know where he is?" I ask
"I don't think he is here yet" She answers
"Try finding him during lunch."She continues
"By the way, are you a friend a Yumu?" I ask
"In fact, I'm his best friend," she answers. Funny, I am his best friend too.
"Hey Ko, you seem to be friends with Yumu too. But I don't ever see you hanging out with him, and I also heard a rumor that last year on Great America fiend trip you two spent the fiend trip together. Could it be that you're dating him?" She rushes out.
"I-I can't believe this rumor!" I scream. The teacher hears and asks us to continue talking outside. Now it's my turn for my face to turn red and be asked to leave.
"Who told you this?" I demand
"Yumu, he said you pin against a wall and kissed him against his will. What a way to assert dominance!" she romanticizes.
"So is it true?" she asks.
"No, not even close. I didn't even go on the Great America fiend trip." I wish it did. I think to myself. But I doubt I can be so confident and assertive.
"You passed the test!"
"What test?"
"The love test!" Then losing all enthusiasm, and instead of a happy care-free voice, she said in a cold and analytical voice.
"You know attractive he is. All of the girls have fallen for him. I know you're a guy, but I have to be careful. I'm gonna confess my feeling to him, and it has to be perfect. That means I need to distract the girls. I would get Tom to do it, but he has detention today." She says
"I won't help you!" I shout at her. I would give him to anyone. I need to confess my feeling too.
"Oh, but what would happen if those girls thought you two to be dating. They will eat you alive." She threatens me. I'm suddenly scared again. I take a few steps back but she only smiles back. I don't want to be eaten before I marry Yumu. But if I help, I won't be able to marry him at all. Do I blindly follow my love for him until I die, or do I surrender?
"Fine" I admit with shame
"I will see you today at Lunch behind this classroom." She says right before the bell rings. Then she walks out satisfied.
