(Disclaimer: there are quite a few things in here that aren't true to the actual plot line, so be prepared. One of the main concepts is that Crisis on Infinite Earths never happened (or happens) I also added a few other details that aren't actually canon, you'll know which ones they are when you see them.)

I woke up the next morning to a banging on the door. I sat up, realizing that I was still on the couch, and quickly got up to see who was at the door. I never locked the door after Nia left last night (it's not like someone could break into Supergirl's apartment and get away with it), so I quickly turned the knob and yanked the door open.

"Oh! Alex, hey!" I told her, adjusting the glasses that I had quickly placed on my face. "Were you sleeping?" Alex said, with a bit of shock in her face. "Were you not?" I asked in confusion. "Kara, you're an hour late to work." She answered. I glanced over at the clock. It was 9 in the morning. I was supposed to be there at 8. "Kara, is something bothering you? You've seemed kind of... well... off." Alex asked me. I didn't want to tell her the truth, I didn't want to tell myself the truth.

"I just feel... lonely." I sighed, "I'm really sorry Kara, I admit I've been really busy with Kel-" She started before I cut her off. "Not that lonely." I frowned and looked at the floor.

"Kara, look at me." She continued. I slowly lifted my head up and Alex saw the tear that had just fell from my eye. She wiped it off as she proceeded. "You will find someone. Mon El may be gone, but there are so many other men out there that you could go out with, and see how it turns out."
I avoided the rest of the conversation. "I'll meet you at the D.E.O." I said before I shut the door once again.

I really didn't want to have this conversation. I mean, what could she know about having the love of your life mysteriously travel 1,000 years into the future for 7 years whilst getting married and forgetting you ever existed? I sighed before whipping my glasses off and heading out through the window as my suit slowly covered my body.

I smile as I feel my pants. I know, it's weird. Even though I can withstand the cold, it's nice to feel a bit warmer during the winter time. With Clark gone and all, somebody's gotta wear the pants in the relationship. No, not that kind of relationship, like a cousin kind of relationship. I didn't mean- you know what, there is really no point in explaining this when no one is even listening. It was supposed to be a funny pun about my crappy love life, and it turned into me supposedly having incest with my cousin. That sucks.

I was flying over the white-covered city until I reached the D.E.O., where, per usual, the door was standing wide open. I lowered myself to the ground and walked inside. "Are you guys ever going to shut that door?" I asked.

"Well, according to the 439,826 different algorithms I calculated in my mind of National City's winter climate, no D.E.O. agents suffer from maladies including a weather background, which would include hypothermia and frostbite." Brainy's professional vocabulary boomed through the building with it's usual enthusiasm. "Wow, thanks for that, Brainy." I said sarcastically.

He was sitting at his desk, his hair slicked back and his feet up on the desk like Winn used to do. "We haven't found any suspicious extra-terrestrial activity today." He continued. "Then why was Alex so upset that I came in to work late?" I asked him as I heard footsteps behind me.

"Because you are supposed to be a responsible adult, and as such, you should be able to keep your schedule under control to the point where you DON'T show up late to work." Alex said as she walked through the door. "Well, I'm sorry that I literally live TWO lives, Alex!" Though she was angry, I could see a bit of pain behind her fury-filled eyes. "Alex, what's wrong?" I quietly asked her.

She didn't say anything, but she didn't really have any time to say anything, because there was suddenly a loud bang from downstairs. "What was that?" Alex asked, putting her hand over her gun where it was snug into her holster. "I don't know, I'll go look." I said before taking off down the stairs with my super speed.
