Laughter

The vampire parted ways from the original witch. The vampire chose walking at human speed rather than taking advantage of their supernatural abilities. Their feet hitting the ground silently except for when they would step on a fallen stray leaf or twig. The night was eerie silent except for the sounds of nature, meaning their thoughts were what they had to concentrate on.

Guilt threatening to break down the walls they had so expertly built up. how could they have done this to Elena? They had loved her and now betrated her.

Those feelings did not last long as the thought of Elena with the Mikaelson brothers made their blood boil. Jealousy blinded them for a moment and they sent their fist hurtling into a defenseless tree.

They shook their head trying to clear their mind and took off with vampire speed. The only evidence they were ever there was the almost snapped tree they had assaulted...



Elena sat beside Tyler on the floor of the almost abandoned Lockwood Mansion. Her head on his shoulder, as they shared a bottle of bourbon. Her tolerance was low, even for a human, but she still tried to keep up with her hybrid friend.

Tyler had told her why he was hiding in his old family home and why he hadn't told anyone of his return. He was afraid that his sire bond to Klaus hadn't completely gone, and the guilt of what he had done whilst under his influence had forced him to stay away from the people he called friends.

Elena did not respond verbally, instead she just wrapped her arms around his wide shoulders until he stopped shaking from anger or upset, she didn't know.

They hadn't spoken much since then, except for the odd joke from Tyler which would send the, overly intoxicated, Elena into a fit of giggles. Tyler stared at the slim brunette, she was so different from Caroline in many ways, but he stared in awe all the same. So many months without human contact and love.

He found himself leaning forward as her latest fit of laughter subsided, and as his lips touched hers he waited for her response. But before he could get it the door slammed open...
