ALICE BEGAN TO get ready for her first day at school. She packed her chalk board and books before grabbing her lunch. She looked herself in the mirror and smoothed out her skirt. She had been at Green Gables for almost a month and had picked up on wearing skirts and dresses, although she still wore trousers.

She and Anne had also learned basic maths and English for their school. Just so they werent behind. She let out a breath and put on her cap and dusting off her shoes. She went downstairs and looked at the smiling Marilla Cuthbert.

"Where is your sister?"

"Upstairs I believe." Alice replied to her guardian.

"Anne!" Marilla called upstairs, causing the girl to run downstairs.

Anne started to rant about about school but suddenly dropped and broke a cup. As soon as they sat down, Anne went on about her hair. Alice was terrified. She picked at her fingers and ate slowly.

Soon after, Alice and Anne began to walk to school. It was only about ten minutes away, but they had to walk through the woods. Anne was a bit behind Alice as she spoke to herself.

Alice was trying to calm herself down. She didnt know it, but the girl had anxiety. It wasnt a common thing to be spoken about in Alice's time. If someone were to find out, she'd be sent to a hospital.

Alice didnt notice that Anne had stopped and started to add to her hat. So the girl kept walking towards the school. She arrived before most of the other students and walked inside to a very loud area.

Kids were shouting, running and throwing things around the class room. She hung up her hat and put away her things. She noticed some of the children looking at her.

"Hello there. I'm Moody." Alice turned to see a boy.

"Hello. I'm Alice." The girl smiled.

"I'm Charlie." The boy next to Moody butted in.

"Nice to meet you two."

"I like your hair." Charlie said. "You're the first girl I've seen with red and short hair."

"Dont talk to the boys, Alice." Diana came up to her, now with her sister. "They're ridiculous."

The boys soon walked away, leaving Alice, Anne and Diana to speak quietly. "All except Gilbert Blythe. Hes dreamy but wont be here today."

Alice was about to ask who the boy was but a group of girls came up to them. Diana smiled and motioned to each of the girls.

"This is Jane Andrews, Josie Pye, Ruby Gillis and Tillie Boulter. Everybody, this is Anne and Alice."

"Hello." Jane smiled at the two.

"Nice to meet you." Tillie smiled too.

But the way the girls smiled made it look completely fake.

"It is a scrumptious pleasure to make your acquaintances, and I shall do my utmost to prove myself worthy if your friendship." Anne said as Alice just mumbled a quick hello.

The girls looked at Anne, with a hint of confusion as well as disgust. Diana was quick to cover what Anne had said.

"Uh...Anne loves to read, and she knows ever so many big words."
