9 | "STRUGGLING AGAINST THE PERCEPTION OF FACTS."

     MARILLA AND MRS. Lynde were heading to Charlotte town due to the fact of Marilla's poor eyesight. Alice would have gone but she had school that day.

At school everyone sat around Diana who held a gift for Prissy. The girl was going to be married to Mr Phillips soon. Alice found the couple to be slightly odd, Prissy was only a girl.

"Diana. You're such a dear." Prissy smiled. "Thank you. Bow I have everything I'll need for the perfect wedding."

"Prissy, do you have a bridal veil?" Anne asked.

"I'm going to be wearing my mothers. It's a tradition in our family."

"You should keep this sixpence and hand it down to your daughters." Anne said as she handed it to Josie who arrived at the group.

"What are we buying?" She smirked, taking the money.

"Diana got a genuine sixpence for Prissy, all the way from London!" Ruby smiled.

"I wrote to my cousin two months ago as soon as I heard of the engagement." Diana squealed. "I'm just glad it got here in time."

"Something old, something new." Tillie chuckled.

"Something borrowed, something blue." Jane continued.

"And a silver sixpence in her shoe." Alice chuckled with the girls.

"Sounds painful." Josie rolled her eyes.

"Sounds like a magic spell for happiness." Anne argued.

Alice turned when she heard a bang. She saw Cole on the floor with Billy stood over him. "You need to be more careful bud." Billy smirked.

The class finally got into their seats and began with mathematics.

"The area equals one half time the sum of both bases, multiplied by the hight. Simple enough. Begin." Everyone began to do the equation on their chalkboards. "The student who finished last, will wish he had stayed home from school today."

Alice turned when she heard the door open and in walk Bash. She caught Gilbert's glance and the two students stood.

"Sebastian." Gilbert said.

"Good morning. Pardon me. I need to have a word with Gilbert..." He looked at the boy who nodded at Alice. "...And Alice, please."

"I'd thank you to stay in the cloakroom."

Gilbert and Alice walked towards the man who held a small package against his mouth.

"Sebastian. What are you doing here? You look terrible." Alice sighed as the three of them stayed in the cloakroom.

"You're not welcome here." Billy spoke. "He tried to kill me at the Christmas panto."

"If theres any threat in this classroom, it's you Billy Andrews." Alice glared at the boy.

"Return to your lesson." Mr Phillips said to the rest of the class.

"You never told me about the Bog. Can I get my own doctor there?" Bash asked Gilbert.

"Uh...sit down before you fall down." Gilbert said, helping his friend sit. "I didnt think youd want to go there."
