"Any news on your mom?"
Toni was finishing wiping down the tables as Betty sat down at the bar in the Whyte Wyrm. A small sigh escaped from her lips. "There's definitely something up. She was acting really weird this morning."
"Like how weird?" Toni asks, walking behind the counter as Betty told the story.
- Flashback to earlier this morning -
"Mom?"
Betty just came back home from Toni's, heading upstairs to change before school starts. She calls out for her mom once more.
"Elizabeth! Where have you been?" She says, walking downstairs in her robe.
"I slept over at Toni's. I texted you, remember?"
"Oh that's right...well have fun at school."
Betty nods in reply, staring at her mother weirdly.
- Flashback over -
Toni laughs, receiving a glare from Betty. "What's so funny?"
"Betty, she probably had an off day or something. Not everyone's perfect."
"Toni, I swear, that's not her at all. I mean, you saw how angry she was when we left with no explanation. She wasn't even on my ass about breakfast like she is every damn morning!"
"Betty, that hood guy is messing with your head. He's probably lying and making you do shit for laughs because he's bored. Call the police and be done with it."
"But I can't."
"But you can. I'll even do it for you because I'm just so nice." Toni says, getting her cell phone out from her purse.
"NO!" Betty snatched the phone out of her hands.
"Cooper what the fuck!"
"Toni, I'm not letting you sacrifice yourself. You heard the man, no cops."
"Betty, you're taking orders from a stranger who has a creepy, deep voice and threatens you. It's probably a dumb prank."
