Let me just start by saying SIZE DOESN'T EQUIVOCATE TO HEALTH. There's some myth about all fat or plus sized (if you personally don't like the word 'fat') people being unhealthy. I'm here to debunk this myth.

I am skinny. I have a high metabolism that keeps me at a size where society doesn't really bat an eye at. I can eat like a m*therfucker at any given place or time and people won't say sh*t. This is because people believe me to be, without any previous knowledge of my medical records, to be healthy.

Let's imagine instead this scenario:

I am a fat girl. I physically look bigger (not in a sexy way either—no big ass and skinny waist). If I were to eat anything in public, it would be speculated by strangers who think they somehow know more about me than me. I could eat salad and they'll coo "oh look at her trying to lose weight". I could eat some unhealthy fast food and they'll think "oh she needs to stop that, that's so unhealthy she needs to loose weight blah blah I'm an assh*le—". There could be a picture of me and SOMEONE on the internet will feel the need to comment something useless like "you need to loose weight".

I feel the need to reply to that: "Are you their doctor? Did you somehow transform into a 14 year old girl to educate everyone here on this platform about obesity and the risks of heart disease? Wow."

We all know. Without your b*llshit comment, we already know all that. As if plus sized women and men aren't already being reminded of that fact every time they have the audacity to breathe in public. As if the skinny girls aren't already being threatened from a young age to not be 'fat'.

Everyone that comments anything fat-shaming either know nothing about health or are simply passing the fat shaming on, as other girls and women have to them (which is a whole other topic for another day)

There are BIG plus sized athletes that do more exercise a day than you've probably ever done in a decade. Plus sized people run marathons and diet while all being plus sized. Just like how skinny people can eat junk food all week and still be skinny. Size does not directly correlate to health.

Skinny girls can even have eating disorders that are killing them. You can't possibly tell of one's health by looking at them or their pictures online.

Next time you feel the need to say something that'll fat-shame someone else, or see someone else's comment. Do the right thing. Educate them and yourself. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk
