Chapter two - The hunt begins

Raphael's point of view

I woke with a start, sweat beading on my forehead; I lay there collecting my thoughts I realized that I had the same dream that I had on my birthday every year. The dream began in a field full of flowers...

I opened my eyes to the light of the sun shining down on my face and a gorgeous girl looking down at me giggling, she was faceless but was wearing a blue flowery summer dress. she eventually grabbed my hands to pull me up she succeeded only to fall over in the flowers as she let go, she continued to laugh as I helped her back up, took her hand and started walking, to where I did not know, Just away from the darkness.

Then her hand was ripped from my grasp and the world turned black, I had lost her, the one I was meant to protect. I ran through the darkness desperately, frantically trying to find her only to be met with more darkness...

I stayed in bed longer than I should have, That dream hit me so hard and I vowed that if this dream was predicting the future or if anything like this happened in the future then I would do everything that is in my power plus more keep it from happening and keep her safe.

With that I got up and got ready for the day, I knew I was late but I was the alpha so nobody could tell me off. I walked down the five flights of steps to get to the kitchen, the downside of living in a big house. I bumped into my sister on the way down she was still in her pajamas, she mumbled something about a bathroom and continued on her way; she was clearly out of it as she had an onsite in her room, she had made sure of it when we were building this house.

When I finally got to the kitchen I found it nearly empty as nearly everyone had eaten already. Our kitchen was the size of a commercial kitchen with white cupboards and marble benches. I got out all the things I needed to cook myself some bacon and eggs, unlike most alphas I could cook for myself.

I looked at my watch and realized that today was the 18th of October the day I was taking some of my pack around to other packs to see if they could find their mates and maybe find mine along the way.

Since we were leaving in the afternoon I would get some work done before we went, so I headed up to my office.

Three hours of doing paperwork later I was more than ready to leave, three hours of solving pack problems will do that to you.

I headed up to my room to pack my bag before heading down to organize who was coming and who was staying, I packed my bag reasonably fast as I did not need, much and headed down to see who was coming with me. I walked out to be met with as least a quarter of the pack, which was a lot my pack had around 800 people in it.

I walked up to the massive group of people and boomed "Okay who's coming?" The group parted to reveal a group of teenagers, which included Lilly and my gamma Fred. As everyone had started talking again, I walked over to Lilly and in a hushed wispier said "Lilly you are not even old enough to find your mate yet, so why are you coming" "I may not be able to recognize him but he can recognize me" "Okay fine" I dragged out.

After a talk with Josh about what he was to do while I was away, we set off. We headed to the pack closest to us, the shadow moon pack, sadly Lilly and Fred ended up in my car so I had to listen to them talk and sing the entire way and they can not sing.

Two and a half hours of ear-piercing singing later, we arrived I got out first and explained why we were there and the alpha, Simon lined up all the unmated males and females and got in the line himself. I got everyone out of the car, but as soon as Lilly stepped out of the car the reaction was immediate Simon stepped out of line "MINE" he growled stepping towards Lilly, Lilly froze in shock as she looked around trying to find who had said it by the time she locked eyes with him he was already pulling her into his arms. I was so happy for her she wanted a mate so badly and now she finally had one. Two other people from my pack found their mates and asked for permission to change packs. I immediately permitted them as I could never keep a mated couple apart but Lilly, on the other hand, was not ready to leave the pack, so her mate decided to come to stay in their pack with permission of course while his beta stayed behind until Lilly was ready to leave.
