"Ichiro!" she cheerily greeted, as the male turned his head towards her direction, stopping in his tracks.
[Last Name][Your Name] jogged towards his figure, as the said male sighed visibly, a little bothered with her presence. Miyata Ichiro and her have been friends for almost a decade now, although she still wonders until now if he sees her the same way as well. She met him during her middle school days with him, and he was known to be popular among many girls in her school. He was her classmate, her seatmate, and even though he rarely speaks to her, she finds talking to him very amusing and fun. He usually just listens (though sometimes it looks like he was just dismissing her), but whenever he's in the mood he slips in some snarky remarks to annoy her. It starts a bickering between the both of them, and through those little moments, her friendship with him has bloomed.
"What are you doing here?" he asks, tone a little annoyed. She noticed that his cheekbones are starting to get prominent again, and his lips are starting to get dry and chapped.
He's going through that weight control thing again, she thought to herself. How long is he going to torture himself like this?
"I went to buy some supplies," she explained, as her [eye color] irises scrutinized his appearance more. He doesn't smile now, too. "And I saw you here. I decided to greet you then. How are you doing?"
"Fine."
"Can I join you on your roadwork then?" she was hoping that he'd let her. She smiled as he just jogged away, not giving her any answer, and followed him suit.
He shadowboxed along the way as she just watched him, concentrated on every movement that he makes. He moves so elegantly, so smoothly, and she can't help but to admire him even more. Even if she doesn't like to admit it, she got a little crush on him, but she knew he wasn't interested in her even a tiny bit. He doesn't care about girls even back then, so how can he even like her back? His mind is focused on boxing, about reaching his dreams, and she knew there's no way that she'll be able to change that. But she's happy, because she knows that this is what he loves to do. This is where he truly belongs.
He stops running and continues shadowboxing along the riverbanks, while she leaned against a tree, continuing to watch him. Soon, he halts himself to a stop and catches his breath, before going on again with his training. She approaches him once again, watching him closely this time.
"You have an upcoming match, right?" she queried, her voice a little bit softer and gentler than it used to. He keeps on shadowboxing, as she took his silence as a 'yes'. "Is your opponent strong?"
"He is," he answers shortly, pausing his movements. He clenches his fists tightly, his aura filled with determination. "But I'm going to win. I'll make sure of that."
A smile made its way on her lips as he starts his movements again. He'll never back down to a challenge, she knew that, and it made her want to cheer for him even more. Suddenly energized by his answer, she grinned widely and clenched her fists in excitement.
"Then I'll make sure to cheer for you with all I've got. Do your best, Ichiro!" she passionately exclaimed, and it brought shock to the handsome boxer's face.
The black-haired male glanced away for a bit, but she can see a small smile forming on his lips. He looked back at her, the same little smile painted on his face, as he ruffled her hair a bit, messing it up.
"You really are silly, aren't you, [First Name]?" he smiles up a bit more, as she reddened at the sight of him being like that. She wasn't used to seeing him like that, and the image of that makes the woman's heart pound against her chest. "But thanks for that."
He jogs away, as she remains on her spot, the image of his smile lingering in her mind until now. The beam on her own lips stretches wider, as she runs to catch up with the guy.
Your smile is definitely the best I've ever seen, Miyata Ichiro.
