He ran outside at the sound of Itagaki's voice calling him.
Ippo woke up early as they have the morning for today. He felt like a beautiful day was ahead for him, as he was able to sleep well last night. After dressing himself up, he wore his cap and started to help his mother and Itagaki in preparation. They were preparing to sail for this morning and he was about to carry the coolers to the port when his kouhai called him. As he went outside, a familiar face greeted him, a shy smile on her lips, her cheeks tinted with a light shade of red. [Last Name][Your Name] stood in front of him, and it slightly surprised him. He approached the visitor and said hello to her.
"[Your Name]-san!" the spiky-haired male happily greeted. It was totally unexpected for the girl to visit him today, and he was glad she did. "How are you? What makes you come here?"
"I-I'm fine," she beamed back a smile at him, and it made him blush a little more. "I actually came here to congratulate you. I wasn't able to watch your match, but I heard you won and that you did really well. I'm glad you didn't get many injuries this time."
His heart slightly thumped at those words. "It wasn't an easy match, though," he recalled, remembering how strong his last opponent was. "My opponent was strong. I really had a hard time fighting him."
"But you still won in the end. It just means that you're strong as well," the woman complimented, and he shied at that even more. [Your Name] seemed to notice something after that, and made a worried face. "Oh sorry, I must be interrupting you right now. I forgot you're working right now."
"A-ah, no! You're not interrupting me. It's fine," Ippo tried to reassure her, but it didn't change the look on her face. He tried to think of a way to cheer her up a bit. "W-Well then, do you want to join us to the port? I-I mean, the seas are calming to watch and the sun is still not that hot yet."
"O-okay."
He lifted up the coolers once again, and started to jog up. He has been doing this since he was young, so his body was used to this kind of work. However, a particular sight caught his attention, and he immediately stopped on his tracks when he saw the [hair color]-haired female trying to lift one of them.
"It's heavy, [Your Name]-san!" he ran back towards her. She slung one over her shoulder and attempted to carry another one. "I-It's okay. You don't have to do this."
"I want to, though," [Your Name] told him, dismissing what he said. It was obvious that she was struggling with the weight of the coolers, but she tried to ignore it. "I can do this. I really wanna help."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course."
They walked together, as he watched the woman closely. She was strong, but it wasn't surprising to see her having a hard time with what she's carrying. Those were really heavy, especially when loaded with their haul, and before, he used to wobble when he brings them to the port, too. He just became used to the task, and this was [Your Name]'s first time. When she wobbled a bit, he tried to offer his help.
"D-do you want me to carry half of yours?" Ippo asked the girl. She declined it, but then her eyes widened in shock at the offer, while the reaction confused him for a while.
"B-but you're— you're already carrying like, eight more," she gasped, dumbfounded. "I-I'll be fine. I'll get the hang of this soon."
It isn't easy, though, he thought, but smiled at the sight of her trying to do her best to deliver them to the place.
The girl helped him bring everything to the port, and after they were set, he pushed the boat and they sailed on the seas. Ippo and [Your Name] watched it vanish from a distance, until all the sight left was the vast blue seas and the clear skies. It was somewhat fascinating to watch, as if all his worries were drowned away by the waters. It was calming and soothing. He heard his companion sigh in contentment and smile in satisfaction.
"You were right," she told him, her [hair color] locks swaying in the breeze, her [eye color]-colored eyes watching the sight from afar. "It's calming to the senses. I'm happy I was able to go here with you, and even see you work. You're really something."
"W-well," he scratched the back of his neck hearing that remark from her. "I've been doing this for so long now. You're the one who's amazing, [Your Name]-san."
"It was hard, like really, really hard," she complained, and it made Ippo laugh a bit. Well, she sure was stubborn about carrying it earlier. "But you know what?"
"It made me admire you even more."
The black-haired male reddened furiously, face turning into a tomato at the statement. His heart throbbed against his chest, and he became speechless at that. Really, really speechless.
"Let's do this some time again soon, okay?" the beautiful woman flashed a smile at him. "I'll make sure to drop by again when I have time to help you."
"Y-Yeah."
Soon, [Your Name] left as she had work to do. Ippo entered the house, and as he finally sets out to go to the gym, a smile crawled its way to his lips.
Maybe this was really a beautiful day, after all.
