How I Played Cupid!

Lilly seems excited about the idea of having that nerd girl with us in Miami. I hope they don't spend the time holed up in the room watching netflix all day or whatever. Zoe seems like a girl who will spend her summer like that but will Lilly join her and leave me to do my own thing?

So I think I am goin to invite the guys too. I know Lilly wont mind as we all basically grew up together. And may be Scott can join too.

" Will you be joining the kids Scott?" the question came from my dad. Woah! It was like he was reading my mind.

Looks like Scott wasn't expecting that question. He nervously fidgeted in the chair and without making eye contact with anyone he answered almost inaudibly

" Urm.. I don't know may be"

I bet Uncle Dan from the other side of the table didnt get what he said. Whatever the hell happened to the Composed Lawyer he is known to be. He is acting like a guilty criminal.

Everyone in the table was looking at him like he is an Alien. Even Lilly is confused.

"What happened to you man? You sound like a guilty criminal" I teased.

Why is he getting all worked up about a simple question. I bet Lilly is not expecting him to join her for three whole months. She knows how busy lawyers can be.

"Nothing. I just didn't want to dissapoint Lilly"

At that our moms awwed and I rolled my eyes.

"I know how busy you are with the cases and law firm and I don't expect you to leave everything and join us, but I admit that I will miss you though"

" Jesus man! You are completely whipped.. You lost your cool at the thought of Lil getting dissapointed?" I laughed it out. If thats what love do to people I am thankful that I stayed clear of it.

" Hush Lanny! That is just so sweet.. Our Lilly is so lucky to have met a man like Scott who loves and treats her just like how she should be treated" my mom said looking at Lilly and Scott with dreamy eyes.

And then started giggling and talking in hush tones with Aunt Rosa like a pair of high school girls gossiping about their boyfriends. They were once high school best friends so go figure. I bet mom and Aunt are already planing Lillys wedding and future grand kids.

I sure do have a very closely knit family I thought looking proudly around the table. Dad talking to Scott about some golf games and Lil talking happily to Uncle Dan about the upcoming vacation while Aunt Rosa and Mom are still giggling like the bestfriends they were.

I smiled fondly at my mom and decided to crash their giggling party.

"What are you giggling about?" I asked mom resting my head on her shoulder facing Aunt Rosa.

" Oh it's nothing.. Just us old ladies talking about something we saw the other day on tv" mom said nervously playing with her nails.

" I know when you lie mom.. I thought you guys are planning Lils wedding" I wispered so that Lilly wont hear and winked at Aunt Rosa.

"You noticed too?" Aunt Rosa asked bewildered.

I scrunched my nose and frowned " notice what?"

"That Scott will  ask her to marry  by the end of this summer" Aunt Rosa wispered excitedly.

My frown deepenes " How can you tell that?"

"Oh you wont know this love.. We have lived twice as longer than you and we know when we see true love" mom said giving me a playful wink.
