"Brrrring", the bell signaling the end of class snapped me out of my thoughts.
I gathered my stuff and walked out the door.

I shot my girlfriend, Carter a text to see where she was.
Carter had been my girlfriend since I was 12, I'm 17 now so I guess you could say we been together for a minute.

Me and Carter had been best friends before we dated. We grew up together, we had sleepovers and we did each others hair, all the normal things childhood best friends did. But the the summer of 8th grade Carter changed, she dressed different and acted different. When all the other girls got boyfriends or were excited to go to school dances Carter didnt. After a while she told me that she liked girls. I didn't judge her about it because like I said that was my best friend, but I didn't expect for her to tell me that she liked me. I didn't know how to feel about it,but I knew that I wouldn't let my best friend be upset or feel rejected. I knew I loved Carter she was my best friend so what would the big deal be if we dated. That's what she wanted. That's what I wanted. Right?

I've been asking myself that question for the past 5 years, and I haven't quite figured it out yet.

Carter texted me telling me she was already outside.
I started to walk towards the main entrance of the school after I put my books away.

I turned my back as I looked in the mirror I had in my locker to make sure my outfit was straight. As I turned to walk away I bumped into a tall figure.

"Oh shit my bad" I said grabbing his hands to keep my balance.
I look up to see a tall man with eyes the color of warm honey looking back at me.
He licks his lips revealing his iced out grills. He had to be new cause lord knows ain't nobody at this school looking like that.
"You good ma" he said rubbing his hand over his chin.
"Yea- yea I'm fine" I said taking a step back and taking him all in.
"My bad... for bumping into you I mean" I said flustered.
"You straight ma" he said looking me up and down.
"What's yo name?" He asked
"Ari" I said shyly.
"I'm Dave" he said shaking my hand.
I smiled at him and he smiled back. We stood there for what felt like forever until her finally spoke.
"I'll see you around ma" he said before turning and walking away.

I'd never seen him around here before I'd definitely remember him.
I shake the thought of him out of my head and continue walking towards Carter.

"Wassup baby" she said wrapping her arms around me and placing a kiss in my lips.
"You ready to go?" She asked opening the door for me.
"Uh yea" I said hopping in.

We both go into the car and started our way towards the house.
Carter lived with her mom but being that her mom wasn't around much at all she mostly had the house to herself, including the bills and everything else. I lived with Carter because we'd known each other since elementary and we decided to move in together to start our senior year.

"Oh yea baby I forgot to tell you that my cousin from New York is in the city, and I'm letting them sleep at the crib" Carter said pulling me out of my thought.
"Ok cool" I said, taking my phone out of my purse and opening Instagram.

After a while we pulled into the drive way of the house. When we got in I noticed the place was empty .

"Where's your cousin babe?" I asked.
"I guess my cuz didn't make it here yet" she said. I shrugged my shoulders and went Into the room to change into something more comfortable.

I grabbed a green dress from fashion nova and threw it on.

"Um baby I gotta go handle something real quick I'll be right back" I heard Carter call from the front room.

"Ok babe" I said.
I jumped into the bed spreading out across it.
After a while I started to get hella thirsty I walked into the kitchen and looked in the fridge for something to drink when I heard the front door open .
"Babe? Is that you" I said putting the juice back into the fridge.

When I turned around I was face to face with the last person I thought I'd see again.
Dave.
