Glorybringer // Glory x Deathbringer

Ohhh boye,,, one of both of our least favorite ships. If you like this ship, I ask you to please consider our reasoning, and not just immediately yell at us about how cute it is.

Glorybringer- another one of the big ships. Oh, now why would I hate this ship? They have so many canonical interactions, and their dynamic is sooo cute!!! But I'm going to say something. Glorybringer is pedophilia. I don't care if you say "well, they were only in a relationship when Glory was 7, she was still an adult." Deathbringer is TWICE HER FUCKING AGE. He is 14 when they first meet. 

 Now, as you may recall, when they first meet, Glory is 6. She is u n d e r a g e, while Deathbringer is well into adulthood. And guess what he does? He offers her on a literal date. 

 Lets put this in human terms for you. A 16 year old approaches a 29 year old to ask him some questions. In turn, the 29 year old responds by flirting and offering to take the teenager- I repeat, the t e e n a g e r- out for drinks. If it still sounds okay in human terms, please get off this book.

 Now, let's get to the point where they were only really in a relationship once Glory was 7. Right, yes. Now, let's think. 7 basically equals 18 in Pyrrhia. Deathbringer is 14, meaning he is twice that, or 36. A 36 year old and an 18 year old. You could argue that they're both adults, but it is still so fucking uncomfortable to have someone who is barely an adult with someone who is roughly 36. 

 In conclusion, I despise Glorybringer. A lot of people who ship it may be misinformed and think they are similar ages, but please understand that they are not at all.

glorybringer. the only thing I can compliment this ship on is its dynamic other than that... it's really gross and bad. 

 the biggest fault I have with this ship is the age gap: when glory and deathbringer first meet, glory and her friends are 6 years old. as I went over in my ripnami thoughts, 6 year olds being minors, with 7 being the official age of adulthood. and how old is deathbringer when they first meet? around 13-14 years old, which is literally twice glory's age. 

 also, the fact that the one of the first interactions they had was deathbringer flirting with some teenager he hardly knew.... big yikes. 

 and if you're gonna make the argument that, "oh, well, they officially hooked up when glory was an adult!!" keep in mind that that's technically an argument real life child predators use to justify their relationships, i.e. waiting until someone's an adult in order to officially start their relationship and deeming it "okay". 

 because guess what? it's not. 

 another one of my gripes with this ship is that deathbringer was literally sent to kill glory and her friends. "oh but he chose to attack blaze instead! plus he never actually killed any of the dragonets of destiny!!" that still doesn't excuse the fact that glory and death's first interactions together were really shady. not only that but death is also... unhealthily attached to glory, similar to peril's situation, except for the fact that death literally never leaves glory's side. he's extremely and weirdly attached to her all of a sudden and the sudden shift between wanting to kill her and then wanting to date her is both jarring and disturbing. (and again, death is twice glory's age, so that makes his unhealthy attachment even more disturbing!!!)
