"I don't understand. This is my home. I just don't get...how I remember you...but I still don't recall anything else. Because...you said they washed my memory..."

"You don't remember anything...anything else??"

"No..." she slowly said.

He dropped on her bed with a thud, his elbows on his knees and his hands in his hair, like he was trying to concentrate.

"I can't believe this happened. It feels like I've lost you again, Elle..."

After a few moments of silence, she asked him, "How come I can't recall anything except for you?"

Tears formed in his eyes, but he hid it, for he knew very well why that was the case. All those years it took for it to finally happen...was lost in just a few hours....

And though he knew the answer to her question, he just replied softly, "I'm not sure. I do hope we find out, though."

"Yeah," she said, sitting down next to him on her bed.

"Do you at least remember Elisa and Tony??"

"Who are Elisa and Tony?" she questioned, their eyes locked.

"They're your parents, Elle."

"How can you say that? I've been living with my mom and dad here for literally all of my life."

"Isabella. I don't know how to make you understand this...Your real parents are back at Dalemark, mourning over their lost daughter. And that's you."

"So, what? This is all just a lie? All of these years that I've been through--no--I thought I've been through aren't even real? They're all just... fake?"

"I'm afraid so. I'm so sorry, Elle. But... I understand why you feel lost. They've just planted all this information into you and your...umm...you know...."

"My not-parents....okay."

When she looked like she was about to cry, he took her hands in hers, and said, "They'll always be your human parents, Isabella. Remember that."

"When do I have to leave?"

"As soon as you're ready to say goodbye."

She looked at her clock, which read 3:57 A.M. How could something this big happen in just three hours? she thought.

"Am I ever going to come back??" she asked, as water filled her eyes.

"I'm afraid that the answer is... no."
