You shifted, harshly glaring down into the book you had picked up and started to read. The old and almost ancient book turned the pages yellow and torn. Your eyes glazed over the words as you snuggled closer into the warm blanket that had been gifted to you. Your eyes momentarily lifted up and checked your surroundings, pulling yourself away from it for a second. Your vision spotted your good statue friend who was huddled in a corner of the room with a (very specially crafted quilt you had made) over his shoulders and around him. Your eyes redirected and spotted the side of the good doctor's face. The white beak had his own face into another good book and you uncomfortably shifted further into the couch and stuffed your face further into your book.
Recently, you had been avoiding 049 like the plague. Why? You were sick. Well, not physically sick, but emotionally and mentally as your thoughts went back to your home out outside of this snowy biome. Remembering the old bustling of a city and the constant honking of car horns haunted you nightly and you even have had a few night terrors. You muttered to yourself, inaudible to those around you. Heaven forbid if 049 found out, you wouldn't hear the end of it. You let a quiet sigh escape your lips as you heard a creak and then the grinding of stone hit your ears. You blinked then looked up to see 173 hovering over your back, reading whatever book you had open. You grimaced a smile as you lifted a hand and gently patted his arm before going back and reading your book. It was quiet, perhaps a tad bit unnerving. It was hard to lie straight to your comrades that you were fine, it was made even harder when they knew what to look for in a person.
The peace was cut short though when 049 closed his book and placed it on the table next to him before standing up and passing by you to on the way out. "I think I'm going to go for a supply run." His deep voice echoed in the room. You never took your eyes off the book's lines and nodded. "Alright, be careful." You called back out to him as the dark figure opened and closed the door behind him. The silence returned after, however, 173 didn't move from his spot from behind you. You pushed the feeling of dread from creeping up your throat. In truth, you were fully homesick from your normal life. It was weird staying in a place like this, but you knew as winter drew closer from what you knew of, there was a less and less of a chance of getting out of here alive. Hell, you would probably starve of all things. You felt goosebumps crawl over your skin as the hard but gentle nubs of 173 laid on the sides of your shoulders. You shivered a little bit, it was almost as if he knew something was wrong. Perhaps he did, yeah probably. You closed your book and refrained from leaning into the touch, denying yourself the comfort of another being.
173 could tell something was up, ever since a week ago where you had tried to quietly leave them. He didn't really mind... that much. So he made sure to keep a closer eye on you, it almost hurt him when you didn't want to be comforted, he didn't know what you were going through. But he sure was determined to get you to feel better, no matter what. He slowly encased his arms around you, he refused to let his best friend feel such a way. It wasn't good, if it continued, he might have to tell 049.
You sighed and gently leaned your head against his arm and closed your eyes. "You know me too well, I'd say." You sighed out loud. It was just you two here since 049 had kicked 035 out a long time ago for many reasons, your safety is one. You mumbled. "I assume you want to know what's wrong." You continued as the statue only made a tapping noise once, having to speak in actions more or less to communicate with you. You blinked once, before staring off into space for a moment then picking your words. You knew 173 easily got worried over your wellbeing, which was sometimes both annoying but considerate of him. "Well, I have started being homesick ever since I tried to leave you two. I miss my city and the noise of people. Even though that will never happen here, I miss my home too." You sighed in contempt, remembering the memories. "My home was always warm, no matter where I went. I would often have everything neat and tidy to make things easier to find. I'm sorry, I shouldn't let it bug me and worry you guys. However, I don't regret anything." You muttered out loud, letting out a soft rant to the motionless statue as he listened. You then leaned away, getting up and off the couch. "I'm going to go take a nap, I'll be up later." You let a small smile come to your face. You turned and approached the door to your room, opening it and quietly closing it behind you with a click and a lock. Your footsteps leading away until they stopped.
