"Are you okay?" Ray asks as soon as I stop choking.

I nod, heaving and breathing in deeply as if to make sure I am still alive.

I can't be!

Why? I should have none that the universe can't set something in motion without it hitting a climax, but this, this is a cruel joke.

When I finally feel like my throat isn't on fire, I turn to look him in the eye and say;

"So you are a Jagamolu?"

"Yes, but it's not something I like to tell people" He says, smiling sheepishly.

"Even the woman you are supposed to be dating?" I ask, starting to get pissed off.

"Well, the woman I am supposed to be dating never asked" he replies, rubbing a hand on his head, a sure sign of his annoyance.

"But you should have…" I try to say, but he cuts me off.

"Have you ever told me your surname in all the time we have been together?" He says in a dry tone, and that shuts me up faster than anything else, because for the first time ever, I admit that he is right.

I never expected for things to get this serious, this fast. I tried my best to not let myself get caught and here I am, but now there is a new development, one that can't be overlooked, one that I can't even tell him, one that changes everything.

He is a Jagamolu, of all the people in the whole of Nigeria, I had to gallivant with a Jagamolu.

He walks up behind me and wraps his hand around me and I try not to stiffen. Rule No.30 of the bosses book says; be the master of deception, and I am going to put on the biggest show of my life tonight, or die trying.

Ray must never know that I know, or I'll be dead before sunrise. I just had to make it through the next few days, my back up plan has been in place for years, I won't be caught off guard again.

I lean into his embrace and sigh softly, he kisses my neck and pulls my hips so that his groin rubs against my butt, and no matter how calculated my thoughts are, I can't help the response that courses through my body.

Oh shameless female! Cried the voice of my inner feminist, if only I listened to her often, I wouldn't be here.

He pulled back and took my hand, leading me out of the kitchen, I pull back a bit and ask;

"Where is my phone? I need to let Grace know that I am better"

"Oh, sorry, I left it on the kitchen counter top" He replies, trying to go further into the kitchen to get it.

I stop him by placing a hand on his chest.

"Don't worry babe, let me get it, I'll meet you in the bedroom" I reply, smiling devilishly. Now, that was the smile the boss thought us to give clients, the kind that made them empty their pockets and sign off their properties.

Oh did he fall, he fell hard. This smile has never known to fail and it didn't disappoint me today.

Ray eagerly went to the bedroom while I got my phone and sent Grace a text.

Set plan B in motion, they've found us.

As soon as I hit send, I get a reply immediately.

I'm on it. Stay safe.

She knows not to ask questions now, time is crucial.

And then I head to my doom.
