"Hi." Derek said from the chatbox.
But Leila was shocked. She couldn't move. Her hands couldn't type. She lost the ability to breath, and she could only think of, "Why? Why would one of the most eligible bachelors of Ace University message me?" then she finally snapped out of her trance and thought "maybe he just wanted to ask a question about school... yeah... maybe that's why"
"Hello. May I help you? :)" She finally replied.
"Yeah. I just wanted someone to talk to. I'm bored, and you were one of the only people who's online right now. A night owl as well I see :)" Derek said.
"Wait... what?" Leila thought to herself, "is he only trying to initiate a conversation? With ME of all people? Seriously? WHY? Why me? We don't even know each other... yet he noticed me... I don't understand this" Leila argued with herself, but tried to form a reply for Derek.
"Bored, huh? Why me though? Why'd you choose to talk to me?" She replied, but then minutes passed and she still hasn't received a message from him.
"Omg... I scared him away didn't I? Was my question too awkward? It was awkward, wasn't it? Ugh!" She argued again with herself whilst biting her lip. "Whatever. It was too good to be true anyway. Wait, why do I even care? What was too good to be true?? Ugh... I don't even understand myself. Well, good riddance." She thought, but then Derek replied once more.
"I'm sorry for the late reply. I just formally exited my game. I was playing Dragon Age and I grew tired. I just wanted to talk to someone, and again... you were one of the only people online. I don't know you but, you seemed like a nice person in your profile picture. Haha... I'm Derek by the way." Leila read.
"...he plays videogames? He... still actually replied... I love Dragon Age. He looked at my profile picture? He thought I seemed... nice?" All these thoughts flooded Leila's mind as she blushed and screamed on her pillow. "Omg... why am I feeling this way? Why am I screaming?? Calm down Lei. CALM THE FUCK DOWN" She finally said to herself.
"Wow, you play videogames? Really? :"> I play Dragon Age as well! I'm actually waiting for the latest sequel to the series. And, thanks by the way... you seem like a nice person too. Glad to know we're in the same school. Haha :3" Leila replied.
"Hahahaha. Yeah. I love playing videogames, whenever I have free time, which is rare because I work, then there's school. Haha... I'm glad too. I hope we become friends :)" Derek said.
"Of course! :D HAHA! I would love to be friends with you. You seem really nice :) You work? o.O" Leila replied, lying about not knowing about his work and all that.
"Uh-huh. I work as a dance instructor and compete in ballroom dancing contests with different partners. Pretty weird, huh? I... I'm not that proud of my work. People often tell me I look gay and my work is gay... I'm honestly surprised I haven't actually 'become' gay. Lol" Derek replied.
"What?! Your work isn't gay. Your work sounds wonderful :) Ballroom dancing sounds really fun! You guys probably wear the most extravagant clothing, then you dance elegantly, making you all look like princes and princesses. :'>" Leila replied.
"Haha... thank you. You are the only one who's agreed to my point of view... I like my work because of that as well. Looking like royalty, dancing with ladies who dress like princesses... it's like living a fairytale. That is the only thing I love about my job :) Hmm. I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship ;)" Derek said.
"Haha! I agree :)" Leila replied, turning red and screaming to her pillow once more.
Leila and Derek talked and talked until it was around 3 in the morning. Leila's eyes were growing heavy and she told Derek that. She said goodbye and goodnight. She logged out of her FluffBook account and jumped on her bed. Then she thought to herself before finally sleeping.
"Derek and I have a lot in common. We both like the same music. We both like dancing, although I don't know how to dance like he does. We both love videogames... and we both love watching movies. So... do I l like him? Like... like him like him? I haven't even met him personally... although through our conversation, I can say that we have the same interests and vibes. But how can I be around him when we're complete opposites in appearance? I mean, even just as friends... what if he suddenly approaches me at school?? Not that I'm counting on it... but still. If he does... no. He can't. I'm... this... and he's THAT. Ughhhh. Why do I even care?? I shouldn't even care! I don't usually care..." Leila exclaimed to herself then buried her face on her pillow.
..........
*Beep *Beep *Beep *Bee---*click
"Ughhh" Leila groaned as she hit snooze. She didn't get enough sleep. Actually, she didn't get sleep at all. She kept on thinking about Derek and their conversation last night, constantly arguing with herself regarding her ideals against the hard known facts.
"6:30. Okay. Need to get up. Just in time I guess." She finally decided to get up. She didn't get sleep anyway, so she stopped trying. She took a hot shower, dried herself with a towel, and put on clothes which she considers semi-comfy and not too shabby, since she didn't want to disappoint Alex for the second time. She wore a white, floral dress, saying to herself "I didn't think I'd wear the clothes my dad gave me... ugh. Too feminine", then finally putting on some pink flat shoes. Finally, she blow-dried her hair, which fell perfectly to her shoulders this time. She went downstairs and took the money as always.
"What's the occasion? You look like a normal girl today, and not some band groupie." Her mother joked.
"Good morning to you too mom. Oooh, pancakes" Leila replied, shrugging off what her mom just said.
"Byeeee. Love ya mom!" Leila shouted, heading out the door after eating breakfast.
"Love ya too! Be careful on your way to school~" Her mom yelled at the door.
..........
Leila was walking down the hallway when someone bumped into her.
"O-Oh my god," she exclaimed as she dropped her notebook.
"I'm sorry. I didn't see you there," the man said, helping Leila pick up her belongings.
"It's okay. I didn't see you as well---" She said, then froze when her eyes met the blue eyes of the man who bumped into her.
"Leila?" Derek curiously asked with a smile.
