Siri's POV
I have been calling Laolu for more than four days since his arrival to Nigeria but he has not been answering my calls so I dressed up and went to Yetty's apartment.
As Yetty opened the door that sunny afternoon, she said smiling as she saw me at her door,
"Wow! This is surely a surprise visit. Where you being, girl? Come on in."
"Thank you babe." Siri replied smiling as Yetty ushered her into her sitting room.
After sitting, Yetty commented,
"Long time no see."
"Yeah, work and some other things have been keeping me busy. You know how it is."
"I sure do. What are you gonna drink?"
"Water will do."
"Okay, give me a minute." Yetty said and left for the kitchen.
She re-emerged with an obviously chilled bottle water and glass cup on a tray then she placed it on the stool beside Siri's seat, then she asked,
"So, how is Ella doing?"
"She is doing real good and Tobi?"
"He is just fine, thank you."
"I can see he is putting it down on you really good."
Yetty laughs gaily. "Come off it girl."
"You know I am not lying to you. Look at you girl, you are shining like the stars."
"Thank you babe. What's up with you? Any man going all the way up to your heart yet?"
"Oh please, no but that brings me to the main reason I came around. Is Tobi's friend back from location yet?"
"Oh! Laolu, yeah he is back. He got back last week. You know how he and Dami can't do without each other, they are five and six."
"I have been calling his number that Ella dug up for me, but he has not been answering it."
"I hope everything is straight with you guys? Is there something I should know?"
"No, not really. We are just friends but I need to see him for something very crucial."
"Okay, maybe I should...." Yetty was saying when someone knocked on her door and she excused herself and went to see who's at the door, her boyfriend and his best friend were the visitors and Yetty said,
"Laolu, we were just talking about you. Come on in."
Laolu came in asking, "You? You and who?"
Yetty said as Tobi wrapped his arms around her, "Remember my girl, Siri?"
His eyes met mine as I stood up and he said,
"Yeah, yeah, I do. How are you doing, darling?"
"I am all good and you?"
"I am all good too." He turned to Tobi and Yetty only to see them eating up each other's face in a kiss. He asked,
"Are you guys serious right now?"
"It's not my fault she is irresistible. Hey Siri, nice seeing you. Come on, let's go somewhere private." Tobi said as he tugged on Yetty's hand and they headed for her bedroom.
Laolu shook his head and continued as he took a seat and I sat down too,
"You are looking all sexy in that dress.""Thanks. I have been calling you for the past four days and you've not been answering my calls."
"Calling me? We didn't exchange numbers, did we?"
"No, but I had to look for your number 'cause I needed to talk to you."
"Oh! You are the one with 5 6 as the last numbers?"
"Yeah, that's my number."
"I am so sorry, I don't take calls from unknown numbers."
"Well, I wanted to tell you something important that's why I came to see Yetty if she could help me get through to you."
"Okay, what's that?"
"Read through." I said giving him an envelope and he opened it and brought out a paper and as he read, he stood up abruptly as he shouted,
"Are you kidding me right now?"
"No, I'm not." I said, standing up too, thereby attracting the lovers who had retreated to the room and Tobi asked,
"What's the problem?"
"Read through. I probably got it wrong." Laolu said giving Tobi the paper and he and Yetty read it,
"You are pregnant? For who?"
"Who else? He is the father."
"How did that happen?" Yetty asked, confused.
"Ask him if he didn't sleep with me." I replied folding my hands under my bosom.
"I did, I just felt since you didn't hassle me for condom then you were on the pill!" Laolu said as all eyes turned on him.
"Well, I wasn't. I came to discuss the solution to this whole situation." I said.
"Siri, what do you want?" Tobi asked,
"I know one thing I don't want for sure and that is abortion." I answered,
"If the media should get hold of this information, things might get ugly." Yetty said,
"And if I abort I might die, why don't you put yourself in my shoe?" I asked heatedly getting tired of the discussion,
"Siri, nobody is saying abortion is the best solution." Yetty defended,
"You know what?" Laolu asked from where he had sat when Yetty mentioned the media,
"What?" I asked suspiciously,
"Go home, I will get back to you, I promise."
"You better, otherwise, the media is going to have a field day when this story gets out. Have a good day." I said as I picked up my bag and leave.
Laolu didn't spend up to fifteen minutes, he left too.
