Riverwell was a pain in the ass to walk through. The snow was deep and it was Bilware's turn to ride Betty and he couldn't stop reminding me. The gloating started in the morning. I had the strange horrid feeling that it wouldn't stop until after nightfall. The wind was playing with my hair and then I thought a dark thought for a moment, we will never find my grandfather. We are just walking around Dragnara aimlessly with no tactics. I pondered this thought then decided not to tell Bilware about it. It wasn't the right time or place now. The warming path to the west lead us to the magnificent Palon valley, this is the city of many tradesmen. Horses of all kinds trot among these streets. A few of the horses carried passengers and a few others carried carts of equipment. Entertainers of all types filled the streets making buzzing noises and thrashing sounds could be heard as they passed by. I looked up at Bilware as he looked down at me almost at the exact same time. I watched my balance and focused on walking on the stone path and not getting mixed up with other travelers who had their own quest to complete.
Bilware looked down at me from Betty and then he signaled for me to step a few inches closer. I briskly stepped a few paces to the left pardoning my way past a fat man with a dark cloak on. I couldn't see his face. A chill flew down my spine. I thought off this as queer. I soon found myself trying to shake my head of the thought I finally made my way to the left and looked up at Bilware. Bilware looked down at me with a sharp look and then his eyebrows arose an inch. He reached into his never-ending satchel and this time he produced a stack of gold coins. They are golden unts. Damn he is rich. I have never seen that much gold. I held out my hand realizing that is what he wanted me to do. He then hollered over the rumbling crowd. "Meet me at the Darnus Inn and we will talk about further plans there. We will meet at night there is some errands I must complete and I do not expect to be finished in a quick manner."
"Fair enough," I said pocketing the gold trying to decide what I wanted to buy first. The city was filled with knickknacks and weapons. They have a black smith who could make me a practice suit for sparing lessons with Bilware. I could also go ahead and stock up on arrows and have Bronar sharpen my dirk. I pursued the path through hundreds of horses and citizens. I finally made it to the centre of Palon valley. A water fountain streamed in front of me boasting different water colors: Blue, grey, black and yellow. The water streams intercrossed and mixed together only to be separated again in the same cycle. Kids could be heard teasing other little children and playing knights.
Two richly dressed women in matching blouses, one skinny and the other fat walked past me the fat one said, "Didn't you hear? The elves are going to war against Racon and his army of rels."
"I heard it was because he stole the royal sword," said the skinny one.
"I heard it was because Racon is a menace and he is killing off elves left and right," said the fat one as she shook her double chins to show sincerity.
I walked a bit slower knowing that what they were saying was probably only partially true. I know that the sword and shield is safe with Bilware. But Now I am positive that Grandon did create that sword. It is of royal style and efficiency. The two ladies went into a store. The store has dresses, purses and jewelry. It wasn't my type of store, but I wanted more of the news and thought it might be beneficial so that Bilware and I can remain out of trouble. I pursued the two women and acted as someone would if they were a customer at 'Madam Lusk de Notts Fine Jewelry and Items of That Nature.' The door was light and almost swung off of the hinges as I tried to maintain a normal twenty year old female's strength. The problem is living with grandpa for the past ten years I almost forgot how to be gentle as a woman. My clothes stay dirty like a man. I could probably beat half the men at the Darnus inn in a fist fight. Madam Lusk looked at me with sharp piercing eyes. She was a beautiful woman, but she puts on too much make-up. I am shocked that she doesn't choke from the perfumes and powder from time to time.
