surprise

n. an unexpected or astonishing event

For the rest of the day, I avoided Jessie. As the final bell rang, I waited at the entrance for Michael and Calum. Calia would probably be coming with us. Her parents weren't all that strict and they loved Michael.
This weekend was my turn for people to stay at my house. We alternated between Calum, Michael or I's house, sometimes even Calia.
I felt hands slide over my eyes and legs around my waist as someone jump onto my back. I knew exactly who it was.
"Michael, you should call off your tiger." I heard laughter and light flooded my vision. Calia's hands draped over my neck instead and I spun her around.
Calia and I were close-ish. I helped her around when she moved here about 3 years ago. I introduced her to Michael and they hit it off.
Calia hopped off and I hugged her.
"C'mon, mom already ordered us pizza so it'll be there when we get home." We split up to go get in(or on) our vehicles to leave.
Calia and Michael got on Michael's motorcycle, Calum got in his little bug-type car and I got in my Impala.
We all got to my house at seperate times. Michael got there first cause he preferred to go fast and 'cut corners.' Actually, he did it to impress Calia and so that she would hold onto him tighter. I got there after him cause I knew all the backroads and shortcuts. Calum always got there after everyone else because he went at exactly the speed limit and never did anything to get in trouble.

We waited for Calum before we went inside. My mom was sitting at the table, peeling potatoes. We dropped our backpacks by the door and I walked to my mother. I leaned down and kissed her cheek before grabbing a potatoe and sitting down next to her. Everyone else did the same and grabbed a peeler, begninning the slow task of peeling them. We did this a lot, we would help her with whatever she was doing and then we would all eat pizza and watch a movie and then us teenagers would leave her alone to herself to watch her soap operas.

We had almost finished with the bag of potatoes before the doorbell rang. I stood up and wiped off my hands before grabbing the pizza money and opening the door. I grinned a bro-hugged James, who always delivered out pizza to us. I handed him the money and took the pizza. He left and I took the pizza inside.

I laid the pizza on the table and as people reached for it, Liz slapped their hands.

"Clean up this mess, then you can eat." She laughed, standing up the throw all the peeling away. "Put all the potatoes in that red bowl. It's for our dinner tomorrow. Callie, are you staying too?"

"Yes ma'am, I'm keeping Michael company and the other boys calm." Calia replied with a grin. Calia and my mom worked great together. I think she helped my mom stay sane with all the boys in the house all the time.

The doorbell rang again and we all looked at each other in confusement. I went to the door and opened it to see none other than Jessie Marina with no last name.
