She drew her swords once more as she moved towards the humans faster than they could keep up, grinning darkly against the pain of their bullets. Overhead, she heard the approach of helicopters, though she was surprised when they didn't open fire. Her blades cut through the flesh of several humans before she was rocked across the pavement, into a tree from the blast of a grenade, the hit bringing the taste of blood to her tongue as the shrapnel bit into her.
"Repeat, hold back on Sharur protocols, we might have this one down." One of the humans muttered from behind the giant machine gun on the roof of the last remaining armoured vehicle. "Send in the nets though."
The humans who had been in the vehicle with Samantha finally joined in, stumbling out of the twisted metal box even as the rest of their team surrounded Urdu. She squinted against the bright spotlights that suddenly trained down on her from the helicopters, taking a moment to spit out a stream of blood as she listened to them form up around her. They were switching to less-lethal electric weapons, with the intent to stun her enough to capture her.
"Where the hell is the witch?!?!"
"Fuck! You lost her!?! Track her down, now!"
"The trail is dead. Let's fucking bag this nasty and then we'll regroup and find her. She couldn't have gone far, she's high as a kite."
Urdu launched her blades upwards as she stood, sending them through the bodies of the helicopters, frowning when she saw two metal cages falling through the air not far from where they were. But the crack of electricity brought her back to the present problem, as she found her hands lashed and restrained by a constant thrum of power.
Her arms went numb, her mind went blank and she fell to one knee as the ground was rocked by the crash and explosion of first one, then another helicopter.
It jolted the bearers of the whips just enough that she was able to wrap her hand around the metal material, yelling through the pain as she tugged on her captor's leashes. The shocks disappeared as the humans flew towards her and she stood, head butting the first one, and catching the second one midair, snapping his neck.
The humans opened fire on her, though they were slow as they scrambled to switch back to their lethal bullets and explosions, allowing her to cut down most of those on the ground by the time the sounds of inhuman howls rang through the sky.
"Sharur is out! I repeat, Sharur is out! Get to high ground and let them deal with this bitch!" A human yelled as they scrambled towards the last remaining two vehicles, scrambling to get inside as Urdu turned to face the two massive, dark forms that were barrelling towards her.
"Well, aren't you two beautiful." Her swords appeared in her hands again as she stumbled to her feet, spitting out another mouthful of blood. Baltha was going to be so jealous that she got to play with these creatures before he did.
She grinned, even knowing that she was already hurting far more than she'd like. The humans were training weapon systems on her and there was the distinct sound of approaching helicopters racing in their direction.
Whatever dark, twisted, mind had created the creatures that came out to meet her, really needed a lesson on the aesthetics of creating life. They were easily ten feet tall, with a body that was a disturbing humanoid animal form The creatures ran on all fours, with a flat even back like a wolf, but the limbs looked human, arms and legs. Claws on all four hand-paws were a good four inches long and the entire, naked, body was covered in a thick, leather-like skin that almost looked reptilian as it caught the dying light of day.
They had no tails and a thin spattering of wiry fur that seemed almost an afterthought, or accident. The skin was an mottled combination of most human skin tones, blending back and forth in a sickening swirling of colours that didn't quite get any of the tones quite right.
Their faces were somewhere between human and canine, with a snout and razor sharp teeth, though they had two holes on the side of their heads in replacement for ears. The monsters rippled with muscle, but everything seemed off. Unnatural, disproportionate in a way that would probably lead to serious issues if the monsters lived and moved for an extended period of time. There were spikes along the spine, jaggedly sharp scabs that oozed slimy, foul smelling liquid. Most disturbing of all was the fact that their eyes were solid pink, and appeared near sightless.
She could feel Timothy getting closer, fast, and as the monsters postured, sniffing the air and trying to size up just what she was, she turned and used her power to crush the major weapon systems of the vehicles. Humans still had guns and their handheld electronic weapons, but she hoped Tim and his team wouldn't walk straight into danger.
Her body ached from a myriad of places, her power simmering low, but not dangerously so. Still, she took care to conserve it as she turned her attention to the giant beasts in front of her. "Ok... let's play."
They locked onto her words, both of them letting out vicious snarls and bolting for her. So much for the hope that they'd attack one at a time. They were fast despite their size, and strong, one of them body checked the wreckage of one of the vehicles out of the way as they charged. The humans, oddly, didn't take the moment to also attack her, leaving her wondering if they were afraid of the creatures noticing them. She could feel fear, violence and a sick delight coming from some of the humans in the vehicles and she grinned as she shifted her stance and strode forward to meet the charge of the monsters.
Urdu ducked under the first slash, sending an elbow up into the thing's chin as she turned and caught a paw full of claws with her two blades. There was a screech of metal and a look of surprise when the monster realized that her armour and swords were not made of the same material they were used to. She spun under the beast's body, jerking her head up and letting her horns cut through the delicate underskin of the reeling monster, drawing a screeching roar of pain that echoed through the air.
The creatures snapped at one another, but seemed to work in unison, having her dancing back and forth between them, slashing, dodging, blocking and rolling out of the way. She scored glancing blows far less often than she would have liked to, though the ground was quickly coated in a thick, dark blood that smelled as unnatural as the rest of the animals seemed to be.
The swipe of one of them sent her flying into the unyielding side of the disabled armoured vehicle, and only a blast of her power gave her enough time to stumble back to her feet as the animals shrieked and stumbled backwards away from their charge.
Her options were limited. But she went over them.
She could transport herself and these two creatures somewhere safe and hope Tim and his team could handle the leftovers and whatever back up was coming. She could transport herself and Tim's team to safety and hope that these creatures didn't tear apart the world looking for her. She could leave. She could stay and fight.
Urdu snarled. She would not run, not from the bastards that dared hurt her mate. She charged the beasts and launched into a vicious attack, her blades sending howls of pain and fury into the air as she pushed herself and her power to the limits to fight the creatures.
As she cut off the paw of one of the creatures, she heard one of the humans get out of the vehicle, followed by the rattling roar of a belt fed gun. Without looking, she launched her sword into the gunner as the first couple bullets ripped through the air, impaling them into the side of the armoured vehicle.
She felt the bullets bite through her weakened armour as she impaled the one beast's impending mouth with her remaining sword, ripping her helmet off her head and smashing it in the face repeatedly, until she found herself tackled off of the twitching creature by the second one. It's paws grasped and clawed, tugged and cutting as she rolled with it on the ground, hearing the distant sound of vehicles slamming through the scattered debris on the roadway.
She could hear yelling, recognizing voices distantly, over the sound of approaching air support, but she was locked in a battle with a creature that dwarfed her in size.
