The darkness slowly dematerialised as my eyes leisurely opened .
The lustre of daylight seeping through my large window .
The onset of winter was my view as I rose out of the soft linen of the radiant warmth of my bed .
I smiled softly as the premature snowflakes descended on to the luscious grass , creating a beguiling ivory blanket . Turning around from the dazzling sight , I sighed .
Then I turned to face my one and only friend Jack . His black and white nose was pointed towards me as his black ruffled feathers were magnificent to look at .
He cocked his head to the side and said " Do you want to play a birthday game ?!" .
His malevolent smile almost taking up his entire face as he got up and rummaged through my small mini fridge situated beside my cooker .
Then beside it was my small bathroom , it was a tiny space but I dealt with it as I had nothing else to do .
He walked over to me , he handed me a thin parcel wrapped in velvet paper and it was enclosed with a black ribbon . "I told you not to get me anything" I said blandly , the parcel probably contained something stupid like a fork or something , like every year he always gets me something useless but with pristine presentation .
He looked at me and I could see the fire like excitement in his charcoal eyes which gave midnight a run for their money .
He sat on the bed and wrapped his arms around me and whispered "Be careful , today . Mei I can sense something coming so your going to need it " .
I grinded my teeth together in frustration as I slowly opened the package after he releases me from his grip . I tore it off and looked at the contents .
The package contained a small note which read "Go....To....Sleep!" . I let the package slide from my fingers as Jack looked at me curiously .
He picked it up and stared at it in shock "Mei! The look on your face ! I'm only kidding , I asked if you wanted to play a game ," he placed a knife on my lap as I trembled in shock and in fear .
Jack always loved to see the terror in my eyes . I looked down at the knife and glared at it . I grabbed it and threw it onto the wall , it only missing Jack by a few inches .
He stared at me as I tucked my knees to my chest and out my head down . I heard Jack say "Oh , well that wasn't a very fun game now was it , Mei ? " I ignored him as I got up and felt my stomach drop again .
I put on a worn out white , woollen jumper and my black worn out jeans .
I put on brown snow boots and grabbed a scarf and a hat .
Leaving my long black hair fall to just past my hips .
I ignored Jack as I walked out , and he chuckled as he normally did . I pulled the knife out of the door just to be careful .
Jack watched as she walked away and thought to himself I never remember putting that note in , it was just meant to be full of cockroaches .......

Mei came to a stop outside her apartment complex then that's when she heard the crunching snow behind her .
She quickened up her walking drastically then that's when she heard the voice whisper beside her .
"Do you know you can slice through the human eyeball like butter?" She turned around to meet the one that killed her parents , that stupid smile carved into his stupid face .
She hardened the grip on her knife as he brought the knife down attempting to kill her. She clashed her knife with him and took a few steps back . He looked at her with his usual expression
. "I have to say old man you look like you haven't aged at all " she said smirking. He smiled as he lunged for her , she dodged each of his attempts to stab her .
She got up off the ground and took a few more steps back , slipping on the ice banging her head . She felt a severe pain in her head as she saw the killer slowly stride towards her .
He grabbed her hand as she tried to struggle and he brought back his knife and buried it deep into her hand , she didn't cry , just lay there emotionless .
Then he looked over at her with his blue eyes and uttered out those three words "Go....To....Sleep!" .
Then there was a yelp of pain as the killer fell on top of her .
Behind her was Laughing Jack , standing there with a pan "BAD JEFF , YOU GO TO SLEEP!" He said smiling at Mei .
She winced in pain as she finally blacked out from the throbbing pain in her head .
