A month had passed since you left Arthur. You were not doing as well as you thought you would be. The more time that passed, the more you missed him, the way he would be snug against you when you woke up, the way he wrapped his arms around you when you were brushing your horse, or even the way he looked when he slept, his rough, tough face expression softening. Part of you had been screaming to go back., screaming for the man that showed you life wasn't all about riches and civilization. How could you go back though? He wouldn't want to see you... would he?

Arthur stumbled out of his tent sleepily, he hadn't gotten much sleep since you'd gone. His eyes were always red and puffy from the lack of sleep, over drinking, or crying. The gang had noticed a significant change within him, but he didn't care, how could he? The one thing that made him feel something besides cold had gone.

"Arthur?" Mary Beth walked up to him. "Arthur i was thinkin' maybe we could go to town? It'd be good for ya to get out and do something, it's about time". She placed a hand on his shoulder. "Plus, I need someone tough to stand up for me" she smiled.

"I don't know about that Mary, I can't risk-" he stopped, his breath shook.

"Arthur you can't avoid leaving camp forever. I know what it's like, please don's close yourself off fully. If we see her we'll leave alright?" Mary Beth grabbed Arthur's sleeve, tugging him to follow.

"Alright" Arthur finally gave in.

Arthur took the reigns and flicked them, nudging the horses forward. He was doing alright, that is until he caught sight of Valentine. The very town he met you in. Mary Beth looked at him, instantly noticing his shaky hands. She placed her hand on top of his, as if silently saying "It's gonna be alright".

Arthur stopped the wagon beside the stables and jumped down.

"Been a while since I been here" He spoke, nervously looking around.

"I'd say!" Mary Beth chuckled. "I'm just gonna get some supplies from the general store, you wanna watch the wagon for me?"

"Sure..." Arthur looked down, clearly a bit nervous about being left alone.

Arthur went to pet the horses, trying to distract himself.

"Hey there girlll" he spoke softly, giving the dapple grey gal an apple.

"Arthur...?" someone spoke. Arthur's stomach dropped the very second he heard his name. He instantly knew  who just spoke.

"Arthur?" they said again.

He couldn't turn around, he was frozen, staring strait ahead, his eyes widened. Finally he felt a hand on his shoulder. At first he flinched, but then turned around, and of course, it was you.

"Y/Y-N?" His voice only a whisper.

"Arthur I-I really missed you" you said, noticing how thin and sad the once strong man looked.

His eyes traced every inch of your face, taking in every detail as if it were the first time he'd ever laid eyes on you.

"Arthur... say something"

And with that, Arthur crashed into you, nearly causing the both of you to go crashing down in the mud. His grip on you tightened, you noticed he was trembling, maybe from shock, or because he hadn't been this ecstatic before. It wasn't long before your shoulder became soaked in his tears. He stood there, weak, broken, confused,  desperate as he sobbed into you.

"Oh Arty... I-I'm so sorry, I had no idea I hurt you this badly" Tears began to form, you felt absolutely terrible.

Arthur loosened his grip, pulling away to look at you once more.

"I missed you s-so much" He muttered, his eyes red.

"Arthur I missed you more than you'll ever know".

Arthur smiled a bit, he couldn't believe you were here, right in front of him.

"Please come back..." He begged, his body shaking in your arms.

"Arthur I was coming back, I was just heading back to camp and I saw you here" You held him tighter, Arthur was your everything, and more. How could you hurt him like this?

"I think we should stay at the hotel tonight, catch up and rest" You suggested.

"O-okay" he agreed, still hugging you. Arthur never wanted to let you go again... Not ever, and neither did you.
