Friends and Enemies

I just got dropped off at the orphanage. I don't exactly know what it is, but mom said that she won't see me again. I hope she's wrong, I love mom. I don't want to leave her.

Mom said I have to stay here since I'm quirkless. Since I'm quirkless, I can't be a hero. But I really want to help people, like All Might.

The caretaker, Ms. Nikko, gave me a room to sleep in. I'm sharing the room with a black haired boy. I should introduce myself. I walk up to him, "hi, I'm Izuku Midoryia, who are you?" I say cheerfully. I think that I can make friends with him. "I'm Ejiro Kirishima!" He seems happy too! "Do you want to be friends?" "Sure!"

A while later, Ejiro introduced me to his other friend, Ochaco. Both of them are really nice! Turns out all three of us are quirkless. We also all want to be heroes!

Some other kids aren't so nice though. One of them, who has a fusion quirk, is especially not nice. He keeps telling us we're useless and won't accomplish anything. I don't agree with him.

"Hey, quirkless trio, come on." He yells at us. I wonder what he wants.. I look to Ejiro and Ochaco. They shrug and follow him, so I follow as well.

He takes us into a corn field. In the center, there are three scarecrows. "Why did you take us here?" I ask him. He says "I need to test if I can use my quirk on people without hurting them. It won't matter if you get hurt, since your quirkless"

Before we can answer, he uses his quirk to push each one of us into one of the scarecrows. Everything is going black. It hurts a lot.

I fall asleep.

[Time skip, 5 hours later]

I wake up, my body is numb. It's bright, I can tell I'm not in my room. I sit up and look around. I'm in a corn field, ok. How did I get here again? My memory is blurry. I look to the right, and see Ochaco, asleep. But she doesn't look right. Her face is covered in pink patches, a line is stitched onto her face, from each end of her mouth to her cheeks, and she has an orange button on the tip of her nose.

Right. That kid fused us with the scarecrows. I hope Ejiro and Ochaco wake up soon. The boy with the fusion quirk isn't around, I don't know how we'll get back to the orphanage. Ms. Nikko is probably looking for us. "Hey. Ochaco? Ejiro? Wake up guys." I say, somewhat loudly. Ochaco opens her eyes slightly. Then she pushes herself up and opens her eyes fully. "Izuku? What happened?" She asks. I shrug, "that guy fused us with those scarecrows, I think."

Ejiro wakes up after a while. "That wasn't very manly." He groans. "It wasn't", I agree, "we should get back."

[Time skip, at the orphanage]

Finally, we got back. It felt like it took forever. "Don't you know you could've killed them?! Why would you do that?" I hear someone yell. Ms. Nikko. The boy with the fusion quirk yells back at her, "they're quirkless, it won't matter if they died! In fact, its better that they died!"

What? No, no that's not true.. I start to cry a little. "Izuku, don't listen to him. He's just being mean" Ejiro says. They hear him too. Ms. Nikko runs over to us, "your ok! I was so worried about you three!" She hugs us. I want to stay in the hug, forever. It feels nice, the same way mom's hugs feel.

Why'd mom leave? I miss her.

"I'm sorry Katsuki did this to you. You three don't deserve this. Any of this." Ms. Nikko apologizes. I shake my head, "its not your fault."

I know, I know, its really short. Next time, the trio will get their quirks. By the way, Katsuki has a fusion quirk in this.
