Beep. Beep. Beep.
Looking over at my phone, the time read 5:45 AM. It was way too early and my bed was way too comfy to get up. I must have not been in my right mind yesterday when I made the decision to get up anytime before 6 and for school at that. I blindly pressed at my phone and snoozed the Alarm, well I hoped I did and tossed the blanket over my head.
My phone went off again a good two three times before I got up. "Here we go again." I grabbed my phone and sat up in bed scrolling my notifications and texting my munchkin a good morning reply. As I was watching people's stories on Instagram, my throat begin to itch. I could feel the itch in my ear. As I was trying to rid of the annoyance my mother intruded the confines of my room unannounced. "Jaelyn Raquel getcho ass up. Ain't that much sleep in the damn world."
"Whatchu think I'm doing, frying a chicken leg?" I swear sometimes parents did the absolute most. Clear as day I'm sure she heard I was up trying to get rid of their dang itch in my throat. "Don't talk back, just get the hell up before I take that phone. Always on that phone that's why you can't get shit done." She rolled her eyes and walked out the room leaving the door wide open and the lights on.
After she was out the room and nowhere near my door anymore, I laid back down just to spite her, but that ended up biting me in the ass because then I fail behind schedule. I shot up in bed and jumped in the shower and started the rest of my morning routine which included scrolling my phone again. I drove by my munchkin house and picked her up before my detour to the Hell officially known as school.By the Grace of the Lord, we made it with minutes to spare. The crew and I had the same homeroom since freshman year, so we already knew to head to Mr. Barrington classroom. We met up to Marshaun and Nate who was loitering outside the class. Nate and Erin hugged, his arms resting just above her booty and her arms around his neck. He picked her up a little because she was so small and he had to bend to wrap his arms around her.
Meanwhile Shaun pulled at my ponytail and I punched his shoulder. We stood in front of the door for a few minutes more until Mr. Barrington told us to find a seat before he marked us absent. Nate and Marshaun walked in class pushing each other while Erin and I trailed behind. "Good Morning Mr. B." Erin said too chipper for 8 AM, but honestly I think it had something to do with seeing Nate and that's tea. Luke warm tea, but tea. Everybody knew Nate and Erin liked each other each other.
"Wassup Buzzardton?" I sat on the edge of his desk and picked up a picture he had on his desk. It looked like it was from the early 1900s and on it was two bad chern and a Angry father and a lady that looked like she tried her best and her best wasn't enough. "It's Barrington and It's been almost three years Miss Evans. You should know by now." He grabbed his picture frame back and placed it back on his desk and pointed to the students desk. "Have a seat."
"My b, how bout I just call you Tom?" I asked getting off his desk. Mr. Barrington's first name was Thomas aka Tom, a nickname I gave him in my head. "No, you will call me Mr. Barrington. Now have a seat." He turned red, signaling I was already irritating him and class hasn't even started. "Okay, okay." I laughed to myself and turned to find my seat, but my smile slipped off my face when I saw it was occupied already.
I looked down at the guy in my seat. He had yet to look up, but after a few more moment of me looking down at him, he maneuvered his neck up at me. He was frightened and he should be after taking over my desk. I crossed my arms and told him, "get the fuck out my seat."
"Chill Jaelyn. It's just a seat and your name wasn't on it." Nate said leaning back in his chair, twisting his fingers in his hair. "How about you shut up and no he needs to get out of my seat." I knocked on my occupied desk and shook my head at the boy. "It's fine, I'll go." He started packing his things up shoving them into his book bag and started to stand. "Nah, you can stay. She just need to find another seat." Marshaun put his hand on ole boy shoulder and pushed him back into the seat.
"Who side y'all on?" I felt betrayed, my so called friends was side with the seat steal bozo. This is one of the reasons why I didn't mess with people, they two faced and fake. "I'm on you're side, but some fights ain't worth fighting." Marshaun shrugged sliding back into his desk. "It's just a chair Jaelyn." Erin finally spoke up. Out of all the ninjas, I would have expected my munchkin to have my back. "You wouldn't be saying that if he was in your seat." I was still pissed, honestly I think I might need to find some new friends, but then again I didn't even like dealing with the ones I had now.
"Fine, I'll just stand." I crossed my arms and tapped my foot and turned my body so I was looking to the front of the class. The bell finally rung and Mr. Barrington stood at the front of the class. He looked over the class and sighed when he spotted me standing. "Please have a seat Miss Evans."
"I would if I had a seat." We had a system that worked for us. I sat in the back corner, Erin sat in front of me, Nate sat on my right and Marshaun beside him. Now everything was messed up because seat stealer was in my chair. Before Mr. Barrington could reply Nate got up. "It's not even that serious Jaelyn. Damn, take my seat and I'll sit here." He moves up one seat beside Erin which I know would make her cool with this new seating arraignment.
"Please just have a seat Miss Evans. Anywhere would be okay." I looked at Nate's old seat and sat down but not before stank facing the whole class because they didn't know how to mind they business. "Fine, but I'm coming earlier tomorrow to get my seat back." I looked over to the guy sitting in my seat, he immediately looked down to his book. "You come to class early?" Marshaun asked laughing. "Shut up. Just wait til tomorrow you'll see."
