Petrified lights shattered in the room as she moved closer. Her fiery orange eyes widened with the sentence of death pouring into Maka and Soul. Her purple hat crooked as the smile as on her face. Raising her left toward the vault of the ceiling, she twisted her thumb moving it up and down and causing her pinky and ring finger to retract to her palm. Slowly green revolting magic flowed from her hands drifting to a paranoid Maka, still looking at her soul. The green sorcery flowed around her neck and slammed her to the wall. The witch's hair fell into her face as she laughed in the lack of participation from Maka. Soul's image materialized on the death scythe.
"Maka, what are you doing?? fight back!"
"I- I, her soul! It's........bigger than Medusa's!" The witch smiled and narrowed her eyes.
"If you don't strike, don't mind I do!" She raced toward Maka with a pulled back hand and green global ball forming in her hand. At that very moment Soul transformed into his human form reading himself for the blow.
"Soul NO!" screamed Maka, as tears flowed through her eyes! Soul was sliced down as his blood covered the witch, in return she licked lips tastefully. The witch looked at Maka and turned her head to a deadly angle with her ears passing her shoulders.
"Maka? Maka?"
"Maka! Wake up" cried Soul pushing her violently.
"I'm awake, I'm awake!" Said Maka, resurring herself it was just a dream.
"Were you dreaming about the mission today?" Asked Soul with one eyebrow rasied.
"Um, yeah" lied Maka, not willing to tell Soul what she was really afraid of. Losing him, becoming weaker, cracking in front of him like her life or his life wasn't in danger, when it was.
"Come on, don't worry...." Soul lifted her from her current spot on the floor. Maka couldn't stop looking at his chest. That was where her weakness lied. Where she was too weak to protect herself and Soul from the once deadly Crona. Soul saw her glaze and immediately read her like book. That was something they both shared. Understanding and idolizing each other, as if they spoke there thoughts out loud. He grabbed his shirt, where the scar was plastered, and looked at the ground frowning.
"I thought you got over it. Don't pond on the past, it's not cool, and I already declared you as cool, and I'm hoping you keep me up to that" Maka smiled a placed a hand over his chest.
"I am, but in this next fight, promise me something"
"What?"
"You are a weapon. You are a tool. You are a scythe. You are a shield. You are to risk your life for mine, but remember you are human. You are something worth dieing for. So please, don't treat me as your minster, but just as an equal partner. Don't risk your life for me" Soul frowned and placed his hands over her shoulders and hugged her.
"I will risk my life for my minster, it's my job, don't tell me otherwise" He released her and smiled. "Now let's go, we have to be at school"
"Yeah.......school?" The pair walked to school side by side, not speaking or breathing as what it seemed like. The slightest blink would startled both with the act of slience that condemned them. Black Star and Tsubaki were waiting there for them, in their usual spot by the opening of door. Soul stretched up to Black Star and shared their signature handshake. Maka took her spot besides Tsubaki and Crona.
"Black Star is quite today..... what's wrong?"
"I don't know..... he challenged Kid again..... and lost. But he didn't seem affected by it last night" said Tsubaki with unknown frown on her face. "I wish he would communicate with me more"
"Why don't you ask him?" said Liz, while carrying a bloody Kid with Patty.
"What happened.....with him?" asked Maka, though she already knew the answer. With a sweat drop forming over Liz's head, she commented,
"He only caught one soul last night and it went to Patty, so now we're uneven, and he can't go on another mission till.....7 or I mean a few hours!"
"Now you've done it" laughed Patty, Kid started to tear up again.
"Now, not only do I have an uneven amount of souls, but I have to wait 7 hours, the worst of all numbers!" cried Kid, with now snot replacing his nosebleed.
"I think we should keep moving before he gets worse" added Soul, with the usual scowl on his face.
"Good idea, let's go" said Black Star, rather cruelly, despite his usual self. Maka looked back at Tsubaki and nodded.
"You're right, something is bothering him today"
