Chapter 9
SpectacularThe early morning wind swept inside my window I had cracked open the night before. Today was the day I would go shopping, yet again, with Claudia. This whole summer she had been avoiding me like the plague. When I would try to talk to her she would no longer smile, but dumbly stare straight through me.
What was wrong with her?
Getting up, I slowly roll my shoulders. It seems as if this house was getting more and more uncomfortable as we housed more Deatheaters. They were the ones that pleaded with the Dark Lord that they had always been faithful even when he had disappeared. And every time the snake like man would ask "And why did you not take responsibility and go to Azkaban like the rest of my followers?" I knew by then that they would die.
I mean come on... You cannot live on a lie forever. Sooner or later someone will realize the truth. It's better to just spill the beans early on then later. Like ripping off a bandage. You either slowly peel it off or quickly rip it off. Your choice.
Putting on the best suit I had, I make my way downstairs. Claudia had been mostly out of the house doing God knows what so I had to forage for food for large quantities of this summer.
"Draco dear what are you doing?" The voice of my mother made me jump a good couple of feet into the air. "You're supposed to be at the dining room right now. Did the Flamel girl not get you?" Her angled face was set up in a surprised look.
"No she didn't. It's... it's fine. I'll go there now." I continued my way to the grand staircase quickly scaling the steps. When I get to the dining room I notice the maid.
Looking worse as ever.
Her hair was matted and tangled with an oily texture as if she had not washed it in days. Her uniform was not pleated like it usually was, but covered in wrinkles and creases. The little life she had in her was gone.
I could tell.
"My dear boy, come... come." Looking up I see the disgusting excuse for a human. "You see I have a proposition to make." Seated at the far end of the table, where Father usually sits, he radiated superiority. "I freed your pathetic excuse for a father from Azkaban for a reason you know. Lord Voldemort does nothing out of pure kindness. You do know my glorious quest in this unperfected world, what would really help me... would be the death of your retched headmaster."
I swore I heard wrong, but judging by his facial expression I think not. He wanted me to kill Dumbledore. A child, merely the age of sixteen. How was I supposed to accomplish that? "Your father was supposed to gather a prophecy that would have changed the tide of this war, but he failed in doing so. I would have treated him worse if he was not thrown into that excuse for a prison."
