After another week, there was no Rengoku to be seen. The nights got less and less interesting, and Giyuu put less and less effort into checking the entire area. Sanemi was also checking around the Water Dojo, and the area around there. He, too, couldn't find anything. The both of them eventually gave up on looking all over the place, but more primarily just the entrances every night, after 2 months of no sightings or any type of hints Rengoku may be coming back.
Giyuu couldn't get Rengoku's hurt expression out of his mind during the whole thing. Did he really, truly hurt his feelings? Rengoku as a demon isn't that soft, is he? Should he go out and look for him, or.. what if he's dead? What if Gyomei already got him and didn't know it was Rengoku??
If he really was dead, it'd be like about a year ago, right after the infinity train crash. Giyuu would be lost of that light Rengoku gave him everyday, again.
If he really was dead, Giyuu would've lost someone close to him for the 4th time. His sister, Sabito, and then Rengoku, twice.
If he really was dead, then...

"BEDHEAD! HE'S BACK! RENGOKU!" Sanemi yelled, waking up Giyuu from this usual 30 minute nap. "HE'S BURNING DOWN THE WATER DOJO!! GET THE HELL UP!"
Giyuu was so shocked, he really didn't know what to do or say. Sanemi ran off without warning, and he followed, and sure enough, the water dojo was on fire. They both went inside, a piece of rubble almost falling onto Sanemi. 'Shit..' Giyuu heard him mumble. He looked around, no Rengoku anywhere.
"You start putting out the fire, I'll try and find shitface." Sanemi said, running back outside. He nodded, and started using Breath of water techniques to put the flames out. The strangest thing was, the fire always returned, it was never actually put out.
"Do you like my blood technique?" A voice boomed from behind him, and a thud following after. Giyuu spun around, his eyes landing on the voice. It was Rengoku, which wasn't a very big surprise. What was a surprise, though, was the amount of damage done to Sanemi, who was on his knees, Rengoku probably threw him down. He was covered in gashes and bruises, but strangely enough, none of them were fatal enough to kill him. Rengoku crouched down, wiping two of his fingers across a slash on Sanemi's back, a sizzle being heard as he did so. Judging by Sanemi's face, it was extremely painful. There was blood left on Rengoku's fingers, and smiling, he licked it off while staring right at Giyuu. "Hello, Tomioka."
Giyuu unsheathed his sword, and faced Rengoku. He wasn't exactly sure how to reason with him.
"Why're you doing this?" He asked, trying to sound as calm as possible.
"Oh, I just thought the place could use a makeover. It's a very boring place, so  I thought some fire could liven up the place!" Rengoku smiled, looking around. "It'll look much better once it's gone."
"I cannot let that happen." Giyuu said, beginning to use one of the Breath of water style techniques, but Sanemi suddenly stood up, kicking Rengoku in the abdomen, right under the hole in his chest, and jumping over towards Giyuu.
"Well, look who woke up from their nap!" Rengoku said, surprise on his face.
"I wasn't sleeping, dumbass!" Sanemi yelled at Rengoku. "The other's might be coming soon, so prepare for that. We'll probably have to tell Oyakata, too." He said, his tone in voice quickly changing.  Giyuu nodded, and charged at Rengoku using Breath of water, First style: Water Surface Slash. Rengoku quickly ducked under the attack, and grabbed Giyuu around the waist, sort of like a hug, and then picked him up, throwing him onto his shoulder, then proceeded to throw Giyuu down, sending a giant wave of pain throughout his body. Sanemi jumped above Rengoku, and used Second style: Claws-purifying wind, slicing Rengoku into four slabs, allowing Giyuu to roll away, and get back up again. He really didn't want to kill Rengoku, just restrict his movements. A bunch of blood splattered under Rengoku while he regenerated, which was unexpectedly fast. Once he was fully regenerated, a giant flame lit under him where the blood was. Rengoku smiled, looking at Sanemi, who landed in front of him. Rengoku quickly unsheathed his sword, then used Breath of Flames, fifth style: Flame tiger. In the nick of time, Sanemi jumped out of the way, only getting slightly cut in the ankle.
"What the hell, Rengoku? The fuck happened to you?!" He yelled, landing down behind him. Giyuu was still a little stunned from being slammed, but he eventually jumped over by Sanemi, since he wasn't in an optimal spot to attack.
"Keep my family name out of your mouth, Shinazugawa." Rengoku responded, suddenly a whole lot more serious. He suddenly used First style: Sea of fire, charging forward with enough force to knock the whole building down. Luckily enough, it missed Sanemi, but you couldn't say the same for Giyuu. The attack had put a gash through Giyuu's shoulder while he was dodging. Since Rengoku was going for Sanemi with a horizontal slash, he accidentally caught Giyuu. There was still enough unharmed muscle for him operate his arm, but there was just barely enough. There was barely any remorse in Rengoku's eyes when he looked over at Giyuu, and instead on going back or anything, he turned and dared try and use another Style, but instead, Giyuu quickly used [style], and skidded to a stop once he was far enough. Sanemi quickly used [style], but once he got close enough to hit Rengoku, his fist quickly slammed into Sanemi's nose, sending him flying back.
"I don't usually use my fists, but you specifically deserve it." Rengoku grumbled, shaking his hand off while staring at Sanemi, but that's when the marechi actually started getting to him. Rengoku collapsed, kneeling on the floor. He was trying his best to hold it off, but since he got so close, he couldn't help but catch a giant whiff of the scent. Sanemi got up, touching his nose. It was broken.
"God damn, that was a punch! Glad you like the marechi, too. Seems like it's doing wonders for you!!" He yelled, smiling. Rengoku growled, looking over at Sanemi. He was getting up, when Giyuu suddenly used [style], and sent them both through the wall, and they both tumbled down the surrounding bamboo. The other pillars were just getting there as they both went through the wall, and the wall had started coming down.
"The wall, someone, get the wall!!" Mitsuri yelled, panicking.
"What're we supposed to do about the wall, none of us can hold it up!!" Shinobu yelled back.
"Gyomei!! Can you try and hold up the wall!!??" Mitsuri shouted, looking over at him.
"I could try, but i can not guarantee it'll stay up for long." Gyomei responded, running over to the hole, and grabbing the wall around it, preventing the wooden beams inside from falling out, and taking down the whole building with it. "It is heavy, but I'll be able to hold it for the time being. Please, the rest of you, do something about the fire, and find the demon who started it."
"Got it!" Mitsuri yelled back, and looked around. "Muichirou, can you put it out with just mist?"
"No..? Mist is just water spectacles, i don't think it alone would be enough to put out an entire fire." He said, confused as to why she'd even ask.
"Oh, right. Where's Giyuu?" Misturi said, they were running out of options.
"He's fighting the damn demon, now help me put the fire out! It's the demons blood technique, so as long as you can get the blood up, it'll probably be put out!" Sanemi yelled, emerging from the building.
"Oh!! Okay!! Someone, go get some towels, or something! A Water bucket too!!" Mitsuri yelled, and Obanai was on it, hopping off somewhere to go get the requested items. It only took him a new minutes to return, and Obanai gave the stuff  to Sanemi. Sanemi went back inside, the rest following. He tossed a few towels around, and dunked the one he had into the water bucket, and attempted to wipe up the blood while putting out the fire. Instead, it blew up, and made a bigger fire than before.
"What the hell?!" Sanemi yelled, then attempted to again, first putting out the fire by squeezing the rag out onto the fire, then wiping up the blood underneath. And to his surprise, it wiped clean off and there was no exploding fire afterwards.
"Shitheads! Make sure you put the fire out first before wiping it up, or it'll explode on you!" He yelled to the group.
"Why wouldn't you put the fire out first? That's kind of stupid." Mui yelled back, putting out the fire with his wet towel.
"Shut the hell up!"
                                                                           —
Once they both stopped, Rengoku kicked Giyuu off of him, and got up right after. After landing, Giyuu got up, without much trouble, surprisingly.
"What was that for, Tomioka? It kind of hurt." Rengoku chuckled, looking at Giyuu. Giyuu just kind of stared back, watching for any openings. "Well? Are you gonna talk?" He asked, turning to face Giyuu. Without any hesitation, Giyuu suddenly used [style], stabbing right into Rengoku's side. Rengoku was about to grab Giyuu, when he suddenly smelled Sanemi's blood. He realized that Sanemi had wiped some of his blood onto Giyuu's haori, and immediately, he fell down into a kneel, again, and pushing Giyuu away as he did so.
"That smell really puts me off, you know? I don't think it's very fa-" Rengoku started, until Giyuu..hugged him? He squeezed his arms, taking Rengoku's arm off of his knee. It was a very tight hug, that Rengoku could easily get out of, but for some reason, he didn't. "What..are you doing?"
"Why are you doing this?" Giyuu asked, softly.
"What? What do you mean?" The question threw Rengoku off.
"What drove you to disappear for two months, then show up and destroy my dojo?"
"I.. don't understand the question."
"Why did you do what you just did? I was actually worrying about you, and you pay those endless thoughts with reckless behavior. I'm asking you, why did you make me worry about you for so long? Doing stuff like that is so unlike you."
"Shouldn't it be obvious? I'm not a pillar anymore. I'm a kizuki, I'm not going to be the same."
"I'm sick of it."
"H-Huh??"
"You heard me. I'm sick of your act. It's painful to hear."
"I.. I'm honestly quite sick of it too. I sound so stupid." Rengoku said, smiling. "I miss the old me!"
"I miss the old you too." Giyuu smiled.
"I..I'm so sorry for setting your dojo on fire. That was so stupid of me. Becoming a demon was even stupider, to be honest." Rengoku sat down properly, criss cross. Giyuu kept his side hug, and Rengoku returned the hug. "I'm so sorry. All of it was very stupid, to be honest. I'm not sure what I was thinking, becoming a demon and thinking I could actually work for Muzan without feeling guilty, or try and kill my friends without feeling guilty. Because i can officially call my life over, I can officially call agreeing to be a demon was the worst decision of my life. "
"It's okay." Giyuu honestly wasn't sure what to say, so they just kind of sat like that. After about 15, 20, minutes, the faint sound of Rengoku's snores were heard. Giyuu chuckled a bit, and leaned a bit more into Rengoku, not exactly wanting to move. They sat there for a good half hour, until Shinobu found them sitting together.
"That was a lengthy search! And just to find you sitting right next to him.." Shinobu shook her head, and woke them both up. "Wake up, sleepyheads."
Rengoku woke up first, and the kanji number four had disappeared from his eyes. He had successfully escaped Muzan's grasp.
"Good morning, Shinobu!" He yelled, seemingly forgetting all about being a demon. The yelling also woke Giyuu up. Rengoku looked down at Giyuu. "Good morning, Giyuu!" Giyuu just grunted in response, and went back to sleep.
"I suppose he would be tired. He was checking for you every night for two months, you know." Shinobu giggled. "Now, grab your boyfriend and let's get back down to the others."
"Wait, Boyfriend??" Rengoku immediately started blushing, emotions returning back to him. He grumbled, picking up Giyuu bridal style, and sealing the hole in his chest, and the wound on his eye closing. Cause the kanji was gone, the scar on his eye was a bit clearer. They all made their way down the hill, meeting Mitsuri and Obanai when they got down.
"Rengoku?! And Giyuu!?" Mitsuri shouted, looking over at them.
"They're tired. We'll explain in the morning." Shinobu said, and Rengoku nodded, still blushing.
"Ooh..okay!! I'm gonna go to sleep. Goodnight!" Mitsuri said, and Obanai nodded, following her as they both ran off. The water dojo was put out, and the hole that was put through the wall was temporarily replaced with a rock. That was more than likely Gyomei.
The next morning, they explained what had happened, and told Oyakata what occurred, and Rengoku apologized to Tanjirou as he said he would, and Tanjirou being Tanjirou, he forgave him. Rengoku was stuck in a room like Nezuko's, cause he was still a demon, despite not being a kizuki anymore. After a couple nights, Giyuu started checking in on Rengoku.
"Hey, Giyuu?" Rengoku asked this particular night. His hair (his ponytail too) was up in a giant low bun, he never cut it, and red robe, sort of like a retirement outfit, but not as cool. Rengoku and Giyuu were sitting together in his bed, just having a normal conversation. Giyuu was leaning onto the wall under the window, Giyuu looked over at him.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think.. demons can love humans?"
"Well, yea. Tanjirou still loves Nezuko, and she's a demon."
"That's.. not what I meant." Rengoku chuckled. "Could you come here?"
"Uh, sure." He scooted over near Rengoku, until they were face to face. "Is this what you mean?"
"Yup! Thanks! Now, back to what I was talking about. Do you think i, a demon, could love a human like you romantically?" He said, blushing a bit.
"Yea, why not?" Giyuu asked, being extremely oblivious to the obvious hint. Rengoku really had no idea how to tell him, since he didn't get the hint at all.
"Well, If that's the case, then I think I do have feelings for a human like you!" He smiled, making a quick recovery.
"Oh, really who?" Giyuu said smiling.
'Is he really that dense? Or am I not making sense?' Rengoku thought.
"You." He said, suddenly serious.
"Huh?"
"You. I have feelings for you." Rengoku said, blushing more.
"Oh. Oh!!" He raised his voice, suddenly flustered. Rengoku laughed a bit, hugged him. "I.. have feelings for you too."
"I kind of guessed by your reaction. I'm glad." He said, letting go and sitting back. Giyuu laid against his chest, cuddling not being exactly new to him.  They kind of sat together in silence until they fell asleep.
The next morning, no one could find Giyuu. The last place they'd think he'd be is sleeping with Rengoku, and again, Shinobu was the one to find him. and Pretending she didn't see him, she closed the door, giggling to herself.
