Backstories and Broken Launchers

Beep beep. Beep beep.

I slammed my hand down lazily on the alarm clock. School again. I got up and dressed myself. I grabbed an apple and placed it in my bag, then took another and bit into it. I tied my hair up, then left for school. I decided to leave two hours earlier, so I could get my launcher fixed. I rode towards the shop, before parking outside and entering. There at the counter was an old man. "A customer. Hello young lady what is it you need?" I tilted my head and stared blankly into his caring blue eyes. He smiled a genuine smile. I gave him a quick smile and put my hand. In it, was pieces of a broken launcher. "Ah. I see. I will be able to fix it, but it will take a couple of weeks." I nodded. "Are you going to need a launcher in the time being?" I nodded again slowly. "I'm part of the Internationals Competition. Representing Japan. I won't need to use my launcher that much, but it will be necessary, so I don't waste my energy." He smiled again. "You're very powerful then?" I smiled properly. "Joint first. I don't usually tell people unless necessary. Thanks for helping me though. I appreciate it." He chuckled. "Come with me. We'll find you a launcher." I followed him into the back, where a collection of launchers lay. I looked over many, and traced my fingers over a few, but none seemed right. "You can't find one huh?" I stared at him. He smiled. "If that's the case, I suggest you either wait for yours and just use your hand, or use your friend's."     "Thanks. I'll see you in time for Internationals then?" He smiled and nodded. "It'll be ready by then don't worry." I was about to go and walk out, when he spoke again. It was quiet, but nonetheless kind. "If you don't mind me asking, if you're joint first. Are you somehow related to Mr De La Hoya?" I chuckled. "That's for me to know and you to find out. Thanks anyway though." He smiled and went back to behind his counter. He waved. I opened the door and gave him my signature hand up, to signal I was saying goodbye. I got back onto my bike, and cycled off to the park. I still had an hour and a half until school, so I was going to train. I still had a right-handed launcher, but it wasn't going to help much. You see when I was younger, I injured my right arm so bad. It made it so I wasn't able to use it for a whole month. Then, when it was healed, I had scratches and scars down it. That's why there's a long glove covering it.

*Flashback*

"Free! Free! Where are you? Cmon Free!" There was a large torrential storm in Spain. Free, Kristina and I were playing hide and seek in the forest outside of the soon to be BC Sol. It hadn't properly hit this area, so Free thought it would be a good idea. Unfortunately a mist had taken control of the surrounding area, so even I didn't know where I was going. I had been travelling for about half an hour until I tripped over something. I didn't cry, but it was still extremely painful. I kept on going. "Free! Kris! Please Free help me!" I kept on going, until I heard something snap. Behind me was a large stag. It had beautiful eyes and it looked at me as if it had concern written in them. It looked at me, tilted its head, then ran off. I was too tired to cry, so I just sat down. I had my legs sprawled out in front of me, and I just laid back. It wasn't long, until I heard a familiar voice shouting in the distance. "Raven! Raven! I know you're around here! Please Rae tell me where you are." I felt my heart skip a beat, as I heard the sweet, but worried voice, of my older brother. I was about to scream out, but I heard something. I turned to find a tree falling towards me. I rolled to the left, but it caught and splintered my right arm. I screamed out in pain, and I'm pretty sure everyone in Spain could hear it. "RAVEN!" I heard distressed footsteps run towards me. I looked up to be met with the gaze of one concerned older De La Hoya. "Free!" I whimpered out. He ran towards me with such speed, I'm pretty sure he could've beat a cheetah. He looked at my whimpering face, and grew shocked and even more concerned than humanly possible. My face looked like this.

"Raven. Hey hey don't cry Rae. Free's going to take you home now. Please stay with me sweetheart. I love you Raven, don't ever leave me again." I sniffled. He picked me up bridal style, and ran for his life. I clung onto his vest tighter with my left hand, while my right arm dangled off the side. Free ran past a very concerned Kristina and straight towards the nearest hospital. Kris was barely keeping up, and before you knew it she was out of sight. Fortunately she knew where Free was, as he left a trail of concerned and shocked citizens behind him. When we arrived, he shouted for the nearest doctor. A group of professionals came towards him. I held onto him with all my might, even when the doctors tried to take me from him. Eventually, Free had to take me to the room they would take care of me in. He never left my side, and relied on Kristina to bring him food and water, even though he hardly ate from the amount of concern bottled up inside of him. When I was released Free never left my side, and would always train with me.

*End of Flashback*

I made my way to a stadium under a gazebo. It looked quite sturdy, and no one was there, so I took my opportunity and started to train. I pulled my glove up higher, and took out my backup launcher. It was red with yellow and black streaks down the side. Much like the one Free gave me for my left hand, but just less important. I hadn't forgotten how to launch right handed, but it was certainly hard and drained my energy more than necessary. I bent down and stretched out my left leg, unlike when I normally launch.

"3..."

"2..."

"1..."

"Let it Rip!!!"

My bey flew around the stadium, before crashing into the side and wobbling. It bounced off the walls of the stadium and jumped into the air. It finally hit the rim of the stadium, and came flying at my head. I put up a lazy arm, and caught it. Stupidly, I put up my right hand, so it sent jolts of pain buzzing through my arm. I flinched, but continued nonetheless. I launched again.

"3..."

"2..."

"1..."

"Let it Rip!!!"

Since I launched with my right hand, my normal counterclockwise, was reversed and uneasy. It flew around the edge of the stadium and bashed vigorously against its sides. "Stop it Madness. Relax." I spoke sharply, but quiet enough so no one could hear. My bey Madness, stopped bashing, but instead moved to the middle. It spun lazily, before gaining more and more power. It created enough power, that it was creating a small tornado that was pulling leaves, and stones in. It threw some stones out, resulting in me having to duck. "Madness that's enough. Stop it now!" My bey wobbled and stopped. Any remaining carnage that was stocked inside its whirlwind, fell to the floor of the stadium and clattered. Hastily, I picked up the remainders and placed my launcher back in its spot in my bag. I held Madness in my hand tightly and looked at the time. 'School!' I thought. I jumped on my bike and peddled faster than before. I flew past citizens, and towards Beigoma Academy. 'I hope I'm not late.' Was my last thought, before arriving near school.
