Bucky's POV
My mind felt foggy as I awoke. I reached up and touched my jaw, which was still tender from a recent fight. Something metallic filled my mouth, and I realized I was bleeding.
I looked around at my surroundings. There was a desk nearby, covered in papers and books. Then to my left there was a surgical caddy, and—
I lifted my hand to look at my arm. It was fully metal. Suddenly I felt very heavy and light all at once, and I held both hands out in front of me.
My body had certainly bulked up. But how? And when had it happened? I thought back to something, anything, and found I could remember nothing.

I took a few last steps and fell to the ground. In my last few seconds of consciousness, something flickered in my mind. A memory.
An adorable, small boy with soft, golden hair. He had blue eyes that were somehow warm and full of mirth despite their hue. He had a tiny, weak body, but his spirit was so strong that I was sure if he was physically stronger, he could take the world by storm.
My breath hitched in my throat. I finally felt something in this strange, foreign body. A burning in my heart, and a pain so deep that I was sure it wasn't just emotional. A warm, wet teardrop fell down my cheek.
Then, the boy's name came to me. Right before the darkness completely clouded my vision, I remembered...
Steve...
