Carl had handed Tina the knife. The woman was entirely unsure of herself. She gathered her courage and began slicing along the line from Lori's previous c-section. The woman shrieked.
"Stop! You're killing her!"
Lori took what would be her last breath and Tina inserted her hands into the woman's stomach.
"Carl, Carl give me your hand. Keep this area clear okay? If I go too deep I'm gunna cut the baby," the woman continued feeling around, "I- I can't tell if this is the arm or the leg...I-I'm gunna pull it out."
Tina had gotten the baby out of the womb. It wasn't moving or crying. She nervously patted the stomach, then turned the baby around and patted it on he back. It was a girl. Fear filled coursed through her veins. This baby had to be alive. Lori did NOT die for nothing. Suddenly, the baby started crying. Carl took off his jacket to put it around the baby and Tina cut the umbilical cord.
She stood up, "We have to go."
"No, we can't just leave her here. She'll turn," Carl begged, "She's my mom." he said and pulled out his gun.
"Carl," Tina pleaded. She went up the stairs with the baby.
Carl stood by his mother. His father's words playing in his head.
"No more kid stuff. People are gunna die. I'm gunna die, Mom too. There's no way to be ready for it."
Carl hugged his mother.
Tina checked outside to find a couple walkers, then went back to get Carl. She heard a bullet and jumped. The poor kid had shot his own mother.
"Carl," she whispered endearingly. He walked right past her and out the door. She followed behind.
"Hershel!" Rick yelled. Daryl, and the others followed behind.
"You didn't find them yet?" the one-legged man asked.
Rick shook his head.
"What about T? Carol?" Hershel asked.
"They didn't make it," Daryl said pained.
"That doesn't mean the others didn't" Rick said hopefully, "We're going back. Daryl and Glenn, you come with me-"
Rick was cut off by the sound of a baby crying. He turned around and the others did as well. Tina came out the door with the baby in her arms and Carl behind her. Tears were falling down her face and she tried to speak.
Rick shook his head in disbelief.
"Where-Where is she? Where is she?" he questioned referring to Lori.
He walked past her. "No-Rick-no" she tried to grab his arm. He knew. He began crying and looked over at Carl.
"Oh no. No, No, no!" he cried when he saw his son. That child had lost his mother. Rick had lost his wife. He dropped to the floor in realization and began bawling.
The baby continued crying as Daryl checked on Rick to make sure he was alright.
"Let me see the baby," Hershel ordered.
"What are we gonna feed it? We got anything a baby can eat?" Daryl asked as Carl walked over to Hershel with the baby. Hershel took a good look at the baby. "The good news is, she's healthy. But she's gonna need some formula. And soon or she won't survive,"
"No-No way. Not her. We ain't losing anyone else. I'm going for a run," Daryl said and put on his crossbow.
"I'll back you up," Tina offered.
