Anna's eyes fluttered open. Blurry at first, they focused on the ground in front of her. The ground had grass growing in various spots but most of it was barren. Anna tried to move her hands but found it impossible to. Something was holding them tightly together.
The more her eyes came back in focus, the most she noticed her surroundings. A fire was going on in front of her with something roasting on top of it. Her hands were tied together behind her back. And the blood was rushing to her head.
The next thing Anna noticed were the voices surrounding her and that she was hung upside down. She wiggled in her spot which gained Drago attention.
Drago, who had been very busy having a one-sided argument with the orcs, turned his head towards Anna. He called out her name quietly. When it did not get her attention, he called out again.
Anna's ear perked up when they heard her name being called. She turned her head and saw a face she could not recognize. The face was swollen in places with dirt and blood covering much of it.
The skin had turned blue and purple and he was in the same position as Anna. The boy called out her name again and this time, Anna recognized the voice.
"Drago," Anna whispered.
"Anna! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Does something hurt?"
"I-um," Anna cleared her throat and tried to focus on Drago. "I don't think I am. I don't know. What happened?"
Anna was having a hard time recalling everything that had happened. Anna could remember running away from orcs and then fighting them. But nothing afterwards. Her head hurt.
"Well, we were able to successfully defeat the orcs that were running after us, throwing rocks at us. Except, there were a lot of them hiding in the forest. They attacked us."
"How is your head not hurting from being hung upside down." Anna questioned.
"You get used to it after being like this for hours." Drago replied bitterly. "I tried to negotiate with them but they are against on letting us be on the ground."
One of the orcs came towards them and told them to shut their mouths or he will rip their heads off and eat them. Anna and Drago hung by their legs and watched as the orcs went through their weapons.
Just now was Anna noticing the amount of orcs that were around. There must be about twenty or so orcs standing about. A couple of the orcs were messing about with their weapons and throwing them away when they did not like it.
"We need to find a way out." Anna whispered to Drago.
"I cannot properly see so you will have to be the eyes."
"I'm always the eyes, the ears, the hands, the feet, the everything."
"No need to lie right now."
Anna rolled her eyes at Drago before she spent the rest of the time looking around. She needed to first free her hands and then feet. But before that, she needed a plan.
Anna looked at all the weapons thrown near a tree. The fire in the middle was their only source of light. The moon did not shine it's light on them tonight.
Anna tried her hardest to count the weapons that had been taken from her. By the end, she realized one was missing. She had hid a very small knife near her shoulder blade.
Anna did not know how she will using that knife to cut the ropes seeing as her hands were tied behind her back. After relaying the new found information to Drago, they came up with a plan and set it in motion.
