I informed the King and Queen about the 'Special Training' the high mage talked about to us. They agreed. They said it was not the first time Victor had special training, and they would like me to join as well.
I just nodded. I'm loss at words right now. They informed me that mom's gone home. Right, 'gone home'.. Does that mean she'll never come back here? I'm not in the mood to ask questions. The breakfast table is supposed to be quiet, not filled with rambling.
We went to school, same thing I did every other day, I kept sleeping on the class that wasn't very exciting. Then came the 'Special Training'. It sounded important and high class, so I paid attention to not make a fool of myself.
We entered the class and there's tons of ninth and tenth-graders.. a.k.a. the seniors of our grade.. Basically highschoolers.
There's only four eight-graders.. which is us. No sevenths that I can see. It's easy to tell because every grade's uniform is different. Sevenths are the developing mages, which is why they aren't here I suppose..
Eight-graders are rarely in this class, but we were exceptions I guess? The high mage told us about the training class before letting us join and register.
The high mage entered the room, it's a big room, maybe the size of half the auditorium. "Alright, alright! Settle down class!" Everyone sat down.
I knew this was no ordinary class so I payed attention. "New students will be joining us today! As you all may know, every year, we host the 'Battle of the Royals'. These four lucky and powerful students we're the one's who finished the battle. Let's congratulate them!" The high mage started to walk towards us.
He motioned for us to stand up. "Introduce yourselves." He said to us. We stood up from our crossed-legged position, there's no chairs here, as this was a battle-spell class. Meaning it's also used for physical training.
Charlotte confidently walked one step, and everyone was charmed, "My name's Charlotte Benevine. Thirteen years old, from Coral Ruins!" She winked at the end. Everybody seemed to like it and even cheered.
I went closer to Charlotte and asked her, "How did you do that?" I whispered.
"It's easy, I used siren magic, hehe." She whispered and chuckled."No spells unless I say so." The high mage looked annoyed at Charlotte. Charlotte rubbed the back of her head and smiled.
It's Gavin's turn. "Prince Gavin Celest from Elven Empire. Fourteen years old and a half elf!" He lifted his head up and flipped his hair.
I stood awkwardly behind Charlotte, swinging back and forth. "Victor Ande Meyn. I am the Prince of this land." Victor gracefully bowed. The seniors cheered.
Now it's my turn, I suck at introductions so here we go, "Hello-" Just when I started to talk, I noticed the boy I saw at Charlotte's beach house.
I went silent for a second, my heart beats faster, "H-Hello! I'm Victoria Adelline Lakes, your young duchess! Fourteen years of age, at your service." I bowed down, lifting my little skirt. None of them reacted, which made it even more awkward..
Do I even belong in the royals? Duchess doesn't really mean anything, they're labeled as 'another wannabe royal'. Seriously, why are duchesses even made.. Dukes get more recognition and respect! What double standards!
I just sighed and looked down. The high mage started assigning us with teams, to diverse our group and 'break out of our comfort zone'.
We were assigned by three. Eighth, ninth, and a tenth grade. Some aren't in order since there are only four eighth-graders.
I was surprised that the white-haired boy was in my team, what's his name again? I completely forgot.
"Hey cherry head." I heard a voice from behind, I turned around and saw the boy. I felt myself sweat, my heart beating really fast. "E-Ey.. What's.. up?" I motioned finger guns to him. I immediately regret the decision and rubbed my forehead.
"Goddamnit." I muttered to myself. "Haha, finger guns? You eight-graders are still doing that?" He laughed and crossed his arms. I just chuckled and look away. Gosh that was embarrassing. He snickered, "I'm kidding, haha."
"Ey yo, not including me? I'm right here too you know?" Another voice was heard. I look to the direction where it came from, and it's a tenth-grader, another boy.. Great. "I like this 'self-proclaimed' young duchess." I heard white-haired say.
I got really heated and started to cover parts of my face. "Hey, let's introduce ourselves shall we? We know you're the young duchess or whatever. I'm Angelo, Angelo Digmaan. From the Thilitines." The tenth-grader reached out his arm, a handshake gesture.
I shook his hands. "Sora Hikari, from Light Wing." The white-haired boy did the same gesture. I paused for a moment then shook his hands too. It made my heart crazy. I tried to calm down and keep myself from screaming.
I remember now, Sora! He's so, charming. Angelo's okay, he has brown skin and dark hair. I never heard of the kingdom 'Thilitines' before. I guess it's far from here.
"So, why you here?" Angelo asked, three of us sat down on the floor. "The crazy test brought me here." I replied to him.
"The ranking test? Woah.. What did you guys do this time?" He raised a brow."We blasted the whole forest, we apparently lasted for how many minutes." I rolled my eyes, it was traumatizing, but I guess it was that easy. "Minutes? No way! You beat Beatrice's record?" Angelo almost covered his mouth.
I raised a brow, "Uhm? Who's Beatrice?" I asked him. "You don't know her? Who the heck are you?! Beatrice is one of the greatest mage here! She's a mage-assasin so that's why, she is a rare and one of a kind mage. Being a mage-assasin is hard to master! Yet she's able to do it so easily and-" Sora cut Angelo off.
"—And you're drooling Ange. Your admiration towards Beatrice is already rejected." Sora gave Angelo a condescending look. Angelo rolls his eyes.
I got curious about beatrice, so I asked Angelo, "So about Beatrice, how long is her record?" I looked at him. "Only half-hour" He looked smug. "But, it was that easy though?" I said to him.
"Well, I guess your batch are a bunch of weaklings I guess, but that's a new record though! Not even me can beat that!" He scratched his head. "Your team lasted two hours Angelo, that's an average." Sora chuckled and shook his head.
"Tangina mo! Team mo nga parang pagong!" Angelo suddenly spoke a language I've never heard. "Shut your 'tangina' Ange, for context, we lasted for only an hour." Sora stick out his tongue.
I was visibly confused so I asked them, "Uhh.. seniors? I don't get what you two are saying.." I gave them a confused look. "Ah, eh.. No worries, tangina is a nice word-"
"Tangina means motherfucker. Don't go teaching kids bad words Angelo." Angelo was cut off again by Sora. Boy this will be an interesting team.
