Benjamin's eyes watched her as she drank the blood, those strange violet orbs taking in all the details like black holes sucking in light. He smiled a bit, looking a tad fondly at the mug. "Yes. Those of my persuasion usually aren't considered trustworthy. Long ago, the progenitors of my breed of vampire did terrible things to gain power. And darkness follows down the line. My family is split off from that, as I refused to continue the cycle. Some call me idealist, atleast to my face. I'm sure they say much worse to my back."
He laughed softly, seemingly only half bothered by it. "My childer were each chosen for their unique personalities, but a sense of humor is something I am insistent each has. The world is too dark to go through what we do without being able to find some laughter, even if almost universally they are smartasses." It sounded more like a compliment in how he said it.
"Michael, my second Eldest, gave me that. He's a powerful man who lives far away these days, but he likes to remind me that I treat my lineage like they were my actual children. He's more... Like a boss to his. Oh well." He nodded to the cup.
"I'm surprised you're still going, if that's the first you've had. We'll need to make sure your thirst is sated. The worst thing to be is a hungry vampire, after all. Very unpredictable. And I can easily provide for you. I'm not sure where to begin in our research. Mystical or scientific, in your opinion? I have both avenues."
She listened to him describe what he looked for in his childers with an understanding face that showed she was taking in the information, she understood why he would look for such attributes like a sense of humour as he was right, being like this was depressing and if you couldn't laugh then goodness knows what you'd end up like. When he called them smartasses however, she couldn't help herself. It started as a small breath of a chuckle that as she thought on it more became louder and louder, amusement and happiness building up uncontrollably, she hadn't meant to laugh so hard at his comment but she did. Her face and mind held a happiness she hadn't felt since she was turned, all because of one little word.
''I'm sorry, that just really tickled me. Calling them smartasses in that way really does make you seem like a parent.'' She calmed down as she thought on the type of research they would have to do. ''Well I was a more rational and logical person before I would say that perhaps we could delve into the mystical, it might be a better answer to what we seek as I've done a small bit of research by myself and all origins of vampirism that relates to us is more of that persuasion and the scientific condition just seems to have too many differences to go down that path.'' She kept the smile of her face, still a little amused from before.
At the prospect of more blood she realised that the hunger was still there, most likely due to the days of starving herself and it would take more than the one cup to satiate it. ''Maybe a little more blood might be good but I don't want to over do it, I'm worried I might like it too much.''
Benjamin cracked a small smile when she apologized, waving a hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it. I realize how I sound, and I've come to terms with the idea. Some don't agree with my outlook, and have their own ways. But not me. And while I have you under my roof and am helping you, I plan to treat you like I would any of my lineage. Of course, you aren't obligated to stay like they are, but I hope that you will, and that we will either find a cure for you or a way for you to co-exist."
He leaned back in his chair, sipping at his blood and considering her. "Though you realize if you do become human again, it may be for your safety that I remove any memories you have of being a vampire. There are those out there, as I've mentioned, that would wish you dead for this. And I would never allow you to come to harm like that." He then watched her going at the blood as he considered what she had said about the research. Standing, he gently took her empty cup and went to refill it from the last of that particular bag. He returned, setting it back down in front of her.
"You'll be fine. Your system generally needs to drink about one of these per night. You're lucky you maintained your sanity, starving as you were. And I would bet you've gotten more male attention since becoming a vampire?" He sat back down across from her, thinking as they spoke about how he would start. Though he wanted her to be comfortable and get to know her first.
