As the buzzer went off, Benjamin looked up and closed his eyes, muttering a few words of power as his magic brushed against the security system. Seeing through the eyes of the camera, Benjamin saw who it was that had come to him and recognized the signs of a vampire in distress. This must indeed be his guest, as the coincidence of another like her stumbling up were too great. Benjamin opened his eyes and set the book down, sliding a paper bookmark into it before closing the cover.

Hands on the armrests, Benjamin stood from the chair and stretched, his back a bit stiff from sitting for so long. Reaching up, he adjusted his glasses with his right hand and turned to the door, making his way downstairs. The house seemed much bigger tonight without his family inside of it, but that was alright. He might need the room to deal with this guest, though he hoped her interests were indeed as benign as she had indicated. While he himself was perfectly happy in his current state, she had seemed like she was the type to wish an escape. He wondered if she was feeding alright, given what she had looked like. A hungry vampire could be problematic.

Opening the front door, Benjamin walked onto the porch and down the steps with an easy stride, his shoes actually a pair of boots worked to look like dress shoes if one couldn't see the whole thing. While he wanted to project that sort of dressed air he was used to, he'd found long ago that comfortable footwear you could run in was much more important. As he neared the gate, he slid his phone out of his pocket and pressed a button, the gates opening in invitation to his visitor.

"Miss Carrington, I presume?" He put his arm across his stomach and bowed his head politely in greeting, showing a small smile. "I am Benjamin Harlow. A pleasure to see you this fine evening. Do come in, won't you?" He straightened, motioning back towards his house. In the darkness, it was quite clear that his eyes had a very soft violet luminescence of their own."

Velvet felt a great deal awkward being in front of the colonial, there were posh houses in London where she came from but she very rarely went to those areas, having little reason to and when she moved to America to follow her plans to be an actress, she doubted she would ever get the chance. She knew from her disheveled appearance that she seemed extremely out of place. With a jerk of her head she flicked her blue plait back and bit her red lips causing the makeup to smudge on her pale skin. Her black satin swing dress looking a peculiar mix with the fedora on her head, she used to think herself indie by wearing these kind of clothes but now she didn't have time for those thoughts. She wore red suede ankle boots from which black socks emerged and went past the dress' bottom line and stopped above her knees, they had the odd bit of dirt on them from her moment on the ground as did the dress luckily the wet patch from the ground had dried and spared her that blush but not the others. She felt so embarrassed.

She started slightly when the door opened, too deep in her own thoughts to pay attention even with her heightened senses. She took stock of the man that emerged from the entryway, she didn't know what she was expecting in his appearance but this wasn't it. He seemed very fine, not that intimidating but she knew not to think he was harmless, she'd no doubt he could destroy her. Even when he opened the gate and greeted her, he was so polite and it made her feel so calm, being from the part of London where no one spoke to her with such respect. It threw her off and made her smile all at once.

''Umm... thank you. That would be nice, Mister Harlow'' She stepped forward and followed him in, noticing his eyes when she got closer. She wondered if that was common in older vampires to have similar optics. As they approached the door she took off her hat, showing the rest of the disheveled blue hair. ''Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. You have a lovely home.''
